Jokowi’s achievements are far above SBY’s, successfully building infrastructure and also increasing Indonesian human resources

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is considered successful in promoting equitable development of human resources (HR). Jokowi’s success in promoting human resource development in Eastern Indonesia has received much appreciation.

North Maluku Khairun University (Unkhair) academic, Chairullah Amin said, since the Jokowi administration era, HDI growth in the eastern region has continued to increase from year to year. Jokowi is considered successful in encouraging the improvement of the quality of human resources in Eastern Indonesia.

“Directly development related to human resources has been successfully carried out by the Jokowi government. That our development index continues to rise, from year to year it has increased,” said Chairul.

Chairul said, the increase in HDI in eastern Indonesia has increased because the government has provided a large enough budget for human resource development. Thus encouraging progress in sectors such as education, health, and so forth.

“Regions, provinces, districts/cities in Eastern Indonesia have experienced an increase in HDI. The government has provided a sizable budget for the education and health sectors which have contributed to improving education infrastructure and the quality of teaching and learning,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi has prepared a budget of IDR 608.3 trillion to increase the productivity and quality of Human Resources (HR) in the 2023 RAPBN. Jokowi will also improve the education sector for quality human resources.

“We must prepare productive, innovative, and globally competitive human resources by continuing to practice the values ​​of Pancasila, have noble character, and safeguard the nation’s cultural identity,” said President Jokowi.

“The government is also committed to strengthening investment in education, including by supporting the expansion of scholarship programs, promoting culture, strengthening world-class universities, and developing research and innovation,” he continued.

As previously reported, the General Chairperson of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), criticized President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who was considered more concerned with infrastructure development than human resource (HR) development.

“It is appropriate to prioritize human development, compared to development that is all-object in nature. Infrastructure development is important, it is needed, but don’t let human development take precedence,” AHY said at the peak of the Prosperous Justice Party’s 21st anniversary celebration, Saturday (20/5/2023).
