Knitting Unity After the Election, All Parties Need to Guard Democracy

86

After the election, the biggest challenge facing a country is maintaining unity amidst differences in political views. Although democracy provides a platform for the expression of diverse opinions, maintaining the integrity of a nation requires commitment from all parties to create unity.
In the midst of post-election political dynamics, it is important for all parties, especially political leaders and civil society, to prioritize the spirit of democracy, respect the election results, and strive to maintain the security and stability of the country.
In this context, the role of all elements of society, especially state civil servants (ASN), becomes very crucial. In a webinar forum with the theme “Adult ASN with Democracy, Knitting Post-Election Unity”, Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) Suhajar Diantoro delivered a message that inspired all Indonesian people to work together to maintain unity and safeguard democracy.
Suhajar emphasized the importance of maintaining the neutrality and impartiality of ASN in accordance with the ASN Law (UU). ASN has a very important role in ensuring the democratic process runs smoothly and fairly.
The success of democracy depends not only on the electoral process itself, but also on the quality and integrity of its implementation. The neutrality and impartiality of ASN is a foundation that must be strictly maintained to ensure transparency and fairness in the implementation of democracy.
Apart from that, Suhajar also reminded the main goals of the state as stated in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, namely protecting all citizens, improving general welfare, and making the life of the nation intelligent.
The importance of elections as an instrument to achieve these goals cannot be denied. Elections are important moments where the people actively participate in determining the direction and leadership of the country. Therefore, the election process must be carried out transparently, fairly and with quality.
In the context of general elections, the role of political parties (political parties) becomes very crucial. Political parties are not only a tool for electing leaders, but also as a bridge between the people and the government in carrying out their mandate of power.
Therefore, the existence of strong and responsible political parties is very important. Political parties must be able to educate people to be intelligent in politics and provide a good platform for community political participation.
However, the challenges faced are not only related to the election process itself, but also to the role of the millennial generation in politics and government. Suhajar encourages the millennial generation to lead in innovative ways, in line with the spirit of the times.
In this digital era, society wants a government that is responsive, transparent and efficient. Therefore, the millennial generation must be able to adapt to the dynamics of the times and provide new solutions in facing existing challenges.
Apart from that, structural changes in the bureaucracy are also a serious concern. With changes in positions to become more functional, adaptation and improving skills are the keys to facing these challenges.
ASN must be ready to play a more active role in supporting these changes in order to create a more responsive and effective bureaucracy.
Not only that, the Regional Representative Council (DPD) also took proactive steps in safeguarding post-election democracy. Through the formation of a Special Committee (Pansus) on Election Fraud, the DPD is committed to uncovering alleged violations and fraud that occurred during the 2024 election process.
This decision was taken in response to findings indicating irregularities in the implementation of elections, such as chaotic data in the election Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) and allegations of criminal acts involving election organizers.
This effort is a concrete step from the people’s representative institutions to ensure integrity and transparency in the implementation of elections. With the existence of this Special Committee, it is hoped that alleged election violations can be investigated more comprehensively, and provide justice for all parties involved.
Safeguarding democracy is not just the task of the government or a group of political elites, but is the collective responsibility of all Indonesian society. After the 2024 General Election (Pemilu), the challenges and tasks of maintaining unity and strengthening the foundations of democracy are increasingly urgent.
Through concrete steps taken by leaders, state civil servants and people’s representative institutions, we affirm our commitment to ensure that the people’s voice is respected and the democratic process runs well.

Above all political interests and differences of opinion, unity in maintaining democracy must be the main priority. Every small step we take in strengthening democracy has a big impact on the future of this nation.
Let us unite and act together, with a spirit of mutual cooperation and a high sense of responsibility, in order to create a stronger, fairer and more sovereign Indonesia.
As we knit together post-election unity, let us also remember that diversity is our wealth as a nation. In this diversity, we find the strength to unite and face all challenges with our heads held high.
By safeguarding democracy, we not only secure the future of this country, but also pass on noble values to future generations. Together, let’s make Indonesia an example of strong and inclusive democracy for the world.
