Jakarta – The General Elections Commission (KPU) has ensured that only five re-votes (PSU) will be held in August 2025.

As of the end of May, 22 regions have completed the PSU as a follow-up to the Constitutional Court (MK) decision, which is divided into six waves of implementation.

The Chairman of the KPU RI, Mochammad Afifuddin, said that the implementation of the PSU had been carried out comprehensively from March 22 to May 24, 2025.

“After the Constitutional Court’s decision, we have carried out a total re-vote in 22 regencies and cities from March 22 to May 24, 2025,” he explained.

Afifuddin added that the last PSU was held simultaneously on May 24 in three regions: Mahakam Ulu Regency (East Kalimantan), Palopo City (South Sulawesi), and Pesawaran Regency (Lampung).

He detailed that the PSU in Mahakam Ulu was held in 77 polling stations with participation reaching 74.14 percent of 20,091 voters.

Meanwhile, in Palopo, the PSU took place in 206 polling stations and was attended by 94,706 voters with a participation rate of 74.9 percent.

For Pesawaran, the PSU was held in 75 polling stations with participation of 63.67 percent of the total 223,047 voters.

Afifuddin also said that the KPU will still hold three additional PSUs scheduled for August 6, 2025.

The locations include Papua Province, Boven Digoel Regency, and North Barito Regency.

“There are only two more regions, namely Papua Province and Boven Digoel Regency, which will only hold PSU on August 6, 2025. And the second PSU or North Barito PSU after the Constitutional Court lawsuit yesterday with a change of candidate pairs because all candidate pairs were considered disqualified,” he said.

KPU RI member, August Mellaz, explained that in addition to the PSU, his institution is also preparing two repeat regional elections in Pangkal Pinang City and Bangka Regency.

The two regions will hold repeat regional elections because in the November 27, 2024 Regional Election, the empty column won the vote.

“We are still preparing at this time, also perfecting the implementation of repeat regional elections in the two regencies-cities,” he said.

KPU RI Commissioner for the Logistics and Finance Division, Yulianto Sudrajat, said that his party is currently directly monitoring the readiness of logistics in Papua.

“We want to ensure that distribution to TPS can run on time so that voters can get good service on voting day,” he explained in Sentani.

Yulianto added that the KPU has established close coordination with all parties to ensure that all stages of the PSU run smoothly and on time. ****
