Layoff Task Force Formed to Protect Workers and Improve Workforce Competence

Jakarta – The government has once again shown its support for Indonesian workers by establishing the Termination of Employment Task Force (Satgas PHK). This initiative is a real step by the state in providing protection for workers affected by layoffs, while also strengthening the resilience of the national employment sector.
The PHK Task Force was formed as a quick and strategic response to the increasing potential for layoffs due to global pressure and industrial transformation. By prioritizing collaboration between the Ministry of Manpower, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, business actors, and labor unions, the government wants to ensure that every worker affected is not left behind.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Anwar Sanusi, emphasized that the formation of the Layoff Task Force was not just a reactive effort, but part of the government’s long-term strategy.
“This PHK Task Force was formed not only to provide a quick response to PHK cases, but also as a long-term effort to prepare a workforce that is ready to face change,” said Anwar.
BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director, Anggoro Eko Cahyo, said that the existence of this Task Force will be strengthened by the implementation of the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) program, a flagship government program that provides comprehensive protection for workers who lose their jobs.
“The PHK Task Force is not only present to handle the issue of termination of employment, but is also designed to provide long-term solutions by improving work competency,” said Anggoro.
Through the JKP program, workers who are laid off will receive three main benefits: cash assistance, job market information services, and job training to improve skills. This is a real form of government support for workers in difficult situations.
“The government is not sitting idly by. Through the PHK Task Force and the JKP program, we want to ensure that workers remain protected and have new hope,” Anggoro added.
The formation of the PHK Task Force is also proof that the government is not only present during a crisis, but is also actively preparing a sustainable and highly competitive employment ecosystem. Through cross-sector coordination and strengthening social protection, the state wants to ensure that no workers are left behind.
For your information, this Task Force will focus on resolving layoff cases fairly and in a targeted manner, while facilitating the improvement of human resources quality through training and internship programs. The government wants to ensure that Indonesian workers are not only protected legally, but also economically and socially.
This step emphasizes the commitment of President Joko Widodo and all levels of government in realizing workers’ welfare, maintaining the stability of industrial relations, and building superior human resources for Advanced Indonesia. [^]
