JAKARTA — The General Election Commission of the Republic of Indonesia (KPU RI) has urged all parties involved in the Re-vote (PSU), including candidates (paslon) and their supporters, to accept the PSU results with an open heart.

Openness in accepting the results of the PSU, whether positive or negative, is considered an example of maturity in democracy. This attitude is seen as crucial in maintaining political stability in the regions, which, in turn, impacts national stability and strengthens public trust in the Election (Pemilu) process.

Iffa Rosita, a member of KPU RI, emphasized that all candidates must continue to uphold the spirit of healthy democracy and be ready to accept the results of the PSU without any conflict.

“I hope all the candidates can be gracious and have an open heart in accepting the results of the vote tally,” said Iffa after monitoring the vote recapitulation plenary session in Serang District, Thursday.

Iffa also reminded the ad hoc organizers in the region, especially in Serang, to always be cautious in conducting the vote tally.

She highlighted the increasing trend of disputes after the PSU in several areas.

“We have to be careful, because out of 11 areas that have conducted the PSU based on the MK decision, seven have filed a lawsuit back to the MK. Serang should not follow suit,” she stressed.

KPU RI, she continued, continues to emphasize the importance of maintaining integrity and neutrality during the PSU process to avoid dissatisfaction that could lead to further lawsuits.

“There must be preventive actions so that similar situations do not repeat in the future,” she added.

Meanwhile, Nahrawi, Commissioner of KPU Riau, urged all PSU organizers in Siak to work professionally and adhere to regulations.

“I am reinforcing to the fellow organizers in Siak to maintain integrity, neutrality, and professionalism in carrying out the PSU,” he said.

He also urged for widespread socialization of the issue of vote-buying as part of the effort to prevent election violations.

“However, in terms of duties, there are other authorities that are more competent to handle this matter, namely Bawaslu and Gakkumdu,” he continued.

On the other hand, Massuryati, Coordinator of the Bawaslu Division in South Sumatra, also reminded the importance of increasing the competence and ethics of all Panwascam.

“If they have been reminded but ignore it, we can include it in our supervision report,” she said.
