“Therefore, food self-sufficiency is our target, energy self-sufficiency, self-sufficiency and good water management and of course industrialization so that there is added value in our Republic,” said President Prabowo.
This step reflects President Prabowo’s firmness and grand vision in ensuring Indonesia’s economic sovereignty amidst global dynamics. The President also emphasized that economic independence is a legacy of the nation’s founders that is now being realized in real terms through government programs.
In accordance with the President’s direction, Zulkifli Hasan (Coordinating Minister for Food) said that the government is now accelerating the program to increase national animal protein production as part of an effort to supply nutrition to the Indonesian people independently.
“We will try to expand there. Hopefully this year, twenty thousand hectares of ponds will be built in Java. And outside Java, it will be built for shrimp and others, but there is also the development of fish capture,” explained Zulkifli Hasan.
This initiative is a concrete form of government support in revitalizing the fisheries and aquaculture sectors which have a direct impact on increasing national food security.
Not only focusing on production, the government is also preparing the construction of animal feed factories to support the productivity of the livestock and fisheries sectors. This program also aims to stabilize the price of corn commodities as the main ingredient in feed.
“In addition, we will also build feed, because this feed is important. The key, chicken and fish are in the feed,” he added.
Full commitment to government programs is also shown by the regions. Taufik Nugraha (Chairman of Commission II of the North Barito DPRD) invited all regional agencies to move quickly and effectively in supporting the national food self-sufficiency target, especially for strategic commodities such as rice and corn.
“One way is to explore the potential of the surrounding environment and utilize yard land to create food security at the household level,” said Taufik.
He also emphasized the importance of innovation and superior public services to face global challenges and realize President Prabowo Subianto’s ideals in strengthening national food security.
These steps show that the synergy between the central and regional governments has been running optimally. The government at all levels is moving in harmony, showing that the food self-sufficiency program is real evidence of the success of the current national leadership. [^]
