Make October 28 a Conducive Moment, a Real Manifestation of the Spirit of Today’s Youth Pledge

JAKARTA — Maintaining conducive conditions in the real world and digital space has become a new form of enthusiasm for Indonesian youth that is relevant to the challenges of the times.
This spirit reflects the adaptation of the values of the Youth Pledge: unity, tolerance, and mutual cooperation to modern, digital life.
On the occasion of Youth Pledge Day 2025, the Expert Staff for Central, Regional, and International Relations of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Suyadi Pawiro, emphasized that the spirit of unity must be manifested not only in social actions, but also in online interactions.
“The Youth Pledge must continue to be a reflection and a reflection for the younger generation to increase nationalism, unity, and creativity in the future, including in the digital space that is now part of everyday life,” he said.
Suyadi said that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is expanding its focus on character development and digital literacy for the younger generation.
These efforts, he said, aim to enable young people to be at the forefront of creating a safe, peaceful, and productive social space amidst the rapid flow of information.
Meanwhile, novelist JS Khairen believes that maintaining a conducive environment in cyberspace requires sensitivity and social responsibility from every young person.
“When young people have the energy and idealism, they must be involved in strategic positions, including in shaping a healthy digital culture,” he said.
He added that literacy and the habit of critical thinking are key to ensuring that the younger generation is not easily influenced by hoaxes or hate speech.
“For young people, read at least two books every month—one fiction for the heart and one non-fiction for the head. This will train sensitivity and strengthen the nation’s character,” he advised.
On the other hand, Musician and Songwriter Indra The Rain emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between enthusiasm and ethics in using social media.
“Youth are a reflection of the nation. Use your energy and creativity to spread positivity, build solidarity, and sow a spirit of nationalism in the digital world,” he said.
He believes that collaboration and innovation are the main strengths of young people in maintaining social conduciveness, both in real and virtual spaces.
Maintaining conduciveness in the digital era is not just about maintaining order, but also creating an inclusive space for every citizen to grow together.
With the adaptive spirit of the Youth Pledge, Indonesia’s young generation has proven itself to be the guardians of unity and pioneers of a digital civilization with ethics and character. (*)
