Ramadan is a holy month that should be used to worship and draw closer to the Almighty. The public is also asked to realize a peaceful Ramadan without hate speech.

The month of fasting is the month that Muslims have been waiting for because all good deeds will be rewarded doubled. We endure hunger and thirst and perform other acts of worship sincerely, and hope that our sins will be forgiven. In addition to not eating, drinking, and smoking, people are also prohibited from making hate speech, because it can reduce the reward of fasting.

How sad it would be if you were tired of fasting from dawn to dusk but the reward was reduced and even exhausted because of doing various bad deeds such as gossiping, cursing, and doing hate speech. All people must realize it because they are adults so they understand what is right and what is wrong. Meanwhile, hate speech is wrong because it has the potential to offend others and disrupt the social system.

People are prohibited from using hate speech because in addition to reducing the reward for fasting, it can also destroy peace in this country. We need to remember that worship is actually not only worshiping God and obeying religious rules, but also establishing good relations with fellow human beings, so that peace can be realized. If this happens then there will be a balance and become a pious people.

But unfortunately this peace was eroded because of differences in political views. After all, the presidential election has been a long time coming. If this difference makes some groups do hate speech, it will be chaotic because it sparks hostility, not only in cyberspace but also in the real world. Hostility can spread to brawls that result in a lot of losses.

We should avoid hate speech and vice versa, do tolerance and talk to each other well. Especially in the month of Ramadan which is full of blessings, we must compete to do good, not bad like hate speech. Mara Samin Lubis, the Central Executive Board of the Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Association, stated that during Ramadan, tolerance should be closer in Indonesia.

In a sense, if everyone is tolerant and tolerant of differences, and it is not easy to insult others who have different views, then we will have peace. With tolerance and peace, Ramadan will feel more solemn because everyone understands each other and refrains from anger, backbiting, and hate speech.

However, if during Ramadan many people do hate speech, it will be chaotic. Hate speech has recently been found in cyberspace, with the excuse that they don’t see each other’s faces directly, so they feel free. Whereas what is being faced is an ordinary human being who has a heart so that he can get angry when he is insulted because of the hate speech of others.

Do not pollute the sanctity of Ramadan with hate speech because in addition to reducing the reward of fasting, it will also pollute the heart. If in the holy month of fasting you dare to do hate speech, what about in other months? Life is to live religious teachings and worship diligently, in addition to working, and don’t add to sin by doing hate speech.

People should be able to refrain from making hate speech in the month of Ramadan because this is a holy month. During Ramadan, let’s compete to increase the reward by praying in the mosque, giving alms, etc. But don’t even do hate speech because it’s clearly sinful and will reduce the reward of fasting. Ramadan should not be polluted by bad words such as hate speech, including to the government.
