Semarang – The President Director of Perum BULOG, Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) of the prices and availability of basic necessities in a number of traditional markets in Central Java.

Rizal personally monitored the prices of several strategic commodities. The monitoring results showed that staple food prices were relatively stable and remained within the government-set Highest Retail Price (HET) limits.

Rizal emphasized that controlling food prices is nothing new for BULOG. He cited experience maintaining price stability during previous religious holidays as crucial for overseeing Ramadan this year.

“We hope that conditions will remain stable during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. We want to ensure that people can obtain basic necessities at reasonable prices and in accordance with regulations,” he said.

He added that monitoring will continue to be intensified throughout Ramadan 2026 to ensure adequate stocks and maintain price stability. BULOG also ensures that strategic food commodities remain secure and sufficient until Eid al-Fitr.

As part of strengthening supervision, the government, through the Ministry of Trade, has published a price list for basic necessities as a reference for traders and consumers.

The list also serves as a control instrument for the Food Task Force to prevent HET violations in the field.

“In addition to monitoring, we also conduct outreach to traders to ensure they continue selling commodities in accordance with applicable regulations and maintain a healthy and conducive trading ecosystem, without harming consumers or businesses,” Rizal concluded.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) is also working to monitor food stability. I Gusti Ketut Astawa, Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization at Bapanas, stated that spot inspections in several major cities indicated stable price trends.

“I think all staple foods are stable. Stocks are secure. Although prices do vary, we see a steady and declining trend,” he said.

The National Food Protection Agency (Badan Bapanas), along with the Clean Sweep (Saber) Task Force for Food Price, Safety, and Quality Violations, also conducted spot checks in Jakarta and Palembang. The results revealed that the prices of most strategic commodities remained within the Highest Retail Price (HET) and Reference Sales Price (HAP) ranges.

With market inspections intensified in various regions and cross-sector synergy between BULOG, Bapanas, local governments, and supervisory authorities, food stability during Ramadan continues to be closely monitored.*
