Mayday Momentum Collaboration Prospering Workers Groups

Surabaya — This year’s International Labor Day (May Day) commemoration is an important moment for various elements of the nation to reaffirm their commitment to improving workers’ welfare. The spirit of collaboration between industry players, government, and the community is key to creating a fair and sustainable work climate.
President Director of PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER), Didik Prasetiyono, emphasized that Labor Day is the right time to reflect on the important role of workers in the progress of the national industry.
“We respect every aspiration conveyed by workers. Improving workers’ welfare is a very important part of strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry,” he said.
According to Didik, workers are not just cogs in the wheel, but are a vital element in the industrial ecosystem.
“Therefore, improving the welfare of workers must continue to be pursued sustainably along with the creation of a conducive business climate,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, from South Kalimantan, the May Day commemoration was also marked by activities that directly touched the needs of workers. The Chairman of the South Kalimantan Provincial DPRD, H. Supian HK, attended a cheap market event held at the Banjarmasin Police Headquarters Field. This activity was not only a form of celebration, but also a real action in helping to ease the economic burden of the working community.
“The role and position of workers greatly determine national economic growth. They are the main pillars in accelerating development,” said Supian HK.
The cheap market provides basic necessities at affordable prices, which is expected to have a direct impact on the welfare of workers’ families.
The momentum of May Day 2025 is proof that collaboration between PPIHK from industry players to public officials can produce real steps to create a better future for workers. By upholding the spirit of solidarity, respect for workers’ rights, and efforts to create shared prosperity, Indonesia is moving towards a more humane, fair, and productive work ecosystem.
Labor Day is not just a ceremony, but a symbol of great hope towards social justice and equitable economic progress. It is time for all elements of the nation to join hands to ensure that every drop of workers’ sweat results in a more decent and dignified life.
