MBG Becomes a Strategic Part in Realizing Superior Human Resource Development

Jakarta – The government has reaffirmed its commitment to remain focused on a strategic agenda that addresses the most basic needs, namely fulfilling the nutritional needs of the younger generation through the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG).

This program is believed to not only address the issue of social inequality, but also serve as an important foundation in realizing superior human resource (HR) development towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

President Prabowo Subianto has emphasized that the MBG governance regulations will be finalized before October 5, 2025, a decisive step that demonstrates the government’s seriousness in overseeing this program.

The Presidential Regulation (Perpres) on MBG governance was prepared as a legal umbrella to ensure that program implementation is systematic, transparent, and on target, even amidst political dynamics and widespread demonstrations.

Deputy Minister of State Secretary, Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, explained that the government is moving quickly to ensure the legal basis for this program is ready to be implemented.

“The Presidential Regulation on MBG governance is being finalized and will be signed by the President before October 5. This demonstrates the government’s commitment to implementing policies that provide tangible benefits to the people,” said Bambang Eko.

He emphasized that the MBG is not just a campaign promise, but a national priority program that has entered the implementation stage.

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan added that strengthening MBG governance not only concerns school children’s nutrition but is also closely related to the national food system.

“The MBG Presidential Regulation will be finalized this week. This means we’re not just talking about nutrition, but also about sustainable food supplies, efficient distribution, and empowering local farmers. This program must be a win-win solution: our children are healthy, while the national agricultural sector also moves forward,” said Zulhas.

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, emphasized that the MBG will continue despite the recent widespread news coverage of food poisoning issues.

“BGN ensures that the MBG program is running according to food safety standards. Unless the President orders otherwise, we will continue this program with strict supervision to ensure there are no potential problems. In fact, with stricter supervision, the quality of the MBG will be even more assured,” said Dadan.

He emphasized the importance of a digital-based monitoring system, hygienic school kitchens, and collaboration with local governments to ensure food safety.

By swiftly preparing regulations, strengthening governance, and ensuring nutritional safety standards, the government has emphasized that the MBG is a long-term strategic program. Amidst the wave of demonstrations, the country remains steadfast in providing real solutions for its people.

The MBG program is proof that the government not only listens to aspirations, but also works hard to realize social justice and develop superior human resources for the future of Indonesia.*
