Members of Parliament and Academics Praise President Prabowo’s Pro-People Programs in His First State Address
Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto’s inaugural state address at the 2025 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) received widespread appreciation from various groups, from parliamentarians to academics. On the occasion, Prabowo outlined his achievements during his 299 days in office and reiterated his commitment to continuing strategic programs for the nation’s progress.
Budisatrio Djiwandono, Chairman of the Gerindra Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives, expressed his highest appreciation to President Prabowo. He considered the speech a crucial moment to affirm the direction of national development. “After 299 days in office, he outlined the programs he has implemented and future plans. This is a significant achievement,” he said. Budi also acknowledged that Prabowo’s success is inseparable from the strong foundation built by his predecessors, including vital programs like the free nutritious meals that millions of Indonesian children have enjoyed.
According to Budi, the program represents a long-term investment in human resource quality. He even compared it to countries like Brazil and South Korea, which took years to realize. “We have seen this significant achievement, although many obstacles remain. The President is also open to input and criticism for improvement,” he added.
Similarly, Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker Sultan Bachtiar Najamuddin assessed that Prabowo’s speech reflected the vision of a leader who wants his country to progress and be respected internationally. He commended the President’s firm stance in eradicating illegal mining, even involving high-ranking officials. “He consistently ensures that natural resources are managed properly and free from deviant practices. We will monitor to ensure this commitment is implemented according to the rules,” the Sultan emphasized.
From the academic community, Trisakti University public policy observer Trubus Rahadiansyah praised Prabowo’s understanding of global geopolitics and economics. He believes the President is capable of upholding the principles of an independent and active foreign policy, including in BRICS cooperation and international trade negotiations. “He understands Indonesia’s strategic position amidst global competition,” he said.
In his speech, Prabowo emphasized that the Indonesian economy would continue to grow by 5.12 percent amid global uncertainty, with investment realization reaching Rp942 trillion in the first half of 2025 and employing 1.2 million people. Many believe this achievement signals optimism that the Prabowo administration is on track to realize the theme of the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence: United Sovereignty, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia.
