Jakarta – The Supreme Leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, successfully led the Grand Mass at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) complex, Jakarta, on Thursday, September 5, 2024 afternoon.

Participants of the Grand Mass reached 86,000 Catholics from all over Indonesia. The Grand Mass activity was a success, all the congregations were well served, the implementation was safe and conducive.

In supporting the activities and smooth running of this Grand Mass, the National Police have prepared a drop off route for passengers attending Pope Francis’ Grand Mass at GBK.

Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police and Head of Public Relations Task Force for Ops Tribrata Jaya 2024, Brigadier General Tjahyono Saputro, said that the drop-off route was to make it easier for the congregation to enter the location of the grand mass because they were not allowed to bring four-wheeled vehicles.

“All buses or Liaison Officers (LO) are required to follow the directions of police officers and the Transportation Agency and other officers,” said Tjahyono.

The Indonesian National Police have also engineered a way to overcome the mass gathering of mass participants by dropping off the congregation at several points at the GBK gate.

Next, the buses carrying the participants were parked in parking areas prepared by the Police, namely in the PPK Kemayoran parking lot, the TransJakarta Cawang pool, the Wisma Aldiron parking lot, the Smesco parking lot, the Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum TMII parking lot, and the PPD Kramat Raya parking lot.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo expressed his gratitude to the public for their support for the grand mass event.

“Of course we are grateful for the support from the entire community for this activity, and we hope this will be a symbol of Indonesian tolerance and we must maintain it together,” said Listyo.

He asserted that all the congregation could be served well. Therefore, various things have been prepared carefully for the smooth running of the Grand Mass event.

The Chief of Police added that those who did not register or receive a special invitation could still attend the Grand Mass in the GBK area.

“Of course, for those who cannot enter, as previously stated, a special videotron has been prepared, so that those who may not be served can join the mass at places determined by the committee,” said the Chief of Police.
