One Year of the Prabowo–Gibran Administration: National Stability Successfully Maintained
JAKARTA – As President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka mark their first year in office, various observers have noted that the administration has successfully maintained national stability amid dynamic political, economic, and legal challenges.
Khairul Fahmi, Co-Founder of the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS), said that the stability achieved did not occur by chance, but was the result of adaptive policy management and continued openness to public aspirations.
“The government has been able to defuse various potential tensions through swift and measured corrective actions,” he said in an interview with Elshinta Radio.
According to Fahmi, the government’s quick response to the crisis following the late-August unrest serves as a clear example of how the state acted decisively. The government promptly initiated communication and dialogue, helping to ease public emotions without escalating social tensions.
“Indonesia’s situation differs from other countries because political communication remained open,” he added.
Fahmi also emphasized that democratic channels in Indonesia remain open and function effectively. Public grievances are being expressed through constitutional mechanisms, rather than through destructive actions. This demonstrates that the democratic climate under the Prabowo–Gibran leadership remains healthy and productive.
On another front, the government is also credited with effectively managing the digital space, which is often a trigger for polarization. Fahmi praised the government’s efforts to strengthen public digital literacy and quickly clarify viral issues as important steps in preserving social stability.
While he acknowledged that public communication performance still needs improvement, he viewed the establishment of the Government Communication Agency (BKP) as a strategic step toward enhancing national coordination.
“The direction of governance reform is moving on a positive and promising path,” Fahmi asserted.
He likened President Prabowo to an experienced pilot, the ministers to cabin crew, and the people to passengers.
“The government’s job is to ensure that all passengers feel safe and comfortable until we reach our shared destination,” he concluded.
