Opening the 10th WWF in Bali, President Jokowi: Without Water, There is No Peace

Badung, Bali – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially opened the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali. By saying bismillahirrahmanirohim, I officially declare that the 10th world water forum is open.

“By gathering us in Bali today, of course Indonesia hopes that the world can join hands on an ongoing basis to strengthen the commitment to collaboration in overcoming global challenges related to water,” said President Jokowi when opening WWF, in Bali, Monday (20/5).

According to President Jokowi, water is a source of life, water is also a symbol of balance and harmony. But if not managed properly, water can also be a source of disaster.

“As a country with a water area that reaches 65 percent, Indonesia is rich in local wisdom in water management, starting from along the coastline, riverbanks, to the shores of lakes. “Water must be managed well because every drop is very valuable,” added President Jokowi.

President Jokowi also added that of the 72 percent of the earth’s surface covered by water, only 1 percent can be accessed and used for drinking water and sanitation purposes. In 2050, 500 million small farmers who contribute 80 percent of the world’s food are predicted to be most vulnerable to drought.

For information, WWF 2024 carries the theme ‘Water for Share Prosperity’ which is attended by 33 heads of state and 190 ministers from 180 countries. Indonesia is the third country in Asia trusted to host this triennial forum. Meanwhile, the focus of this year’s World Water Forum is discussing the problems and potential of water resources for the world.
