Central Papua — The armed separatist group TPNPB-OPM is again using hoaxes as a propaganda tool to corner the security forces.

After launching an attack on Aminggaru Airport, Ilaga, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, they spread false accusations of violence against civilians by the TNI-Polri, which was immediately denied through an official statement from the authorities.

Spokesperson for the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo, dismissed claims that the authorities burned down residents’ houses during the operation after the attack. He emphasized that the steps taken in the field were very measured and did not target residential areas.

“It is not true that our personnel burned down residents’ houses. The operation was carried out in a limited, measured, and professional manner. There were no actions targeting civilians,” said Yusuf.

The situation around Aminggaru Airport has now returned to normal. Based on drone monitoring, three TPNPB militia members were seen carrying long-barreled weapons and pistols before fleeing into the forest. Their whereabouts are being monitored to prevent potential further threats.

The Head of the Cartenz Peace Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, also conveyed a firm stance. He considered the attack on the airport a serious crime because it endangered civilians and disrupted vital public facilities.

“This is an attack on a vital object that endangers civilians. We will not give them the slightest room to create instability. Law enforcement will continue to be carried out professionally,” said Faizal.

Responding to allegations of burning houses, Faizal called it classic propaganda often played by separatist groups. He challenged the party spreading the information to prove their claims openly.

“If there is evidence of burning, please convey it. Don’t keep making up stories to sway public opinion,” added Faizal.

The government invites the public to remain calm and not be easily provoked by misleading narratives spread by separatist groups. The security forces continue to firmly uphold their commitment to protecting the community and regional stability.
