Papua Street Carnival A Great Leaping Stone for the Young Generation of the Cendrawasih Earth
Papua – President Jokowi has officially opened the Papua Street Carnival on Friday (7/7/2023). In his remarks, the President believed that young Papuans were capable of making a big leap through their creativity.
“I believe young Papuans will make a big leap, ladies and gentlemen, if you don’t believe, please enter the exhibition site and see for yourself how the packaging of Papuan products is called, whether it’s coffee, whether it’s smoked fish, and other products. ,” said President Jokowi.
The Head of State said that the works of young Papuans displayed at the event were good. He said this was progress. The President also appreciated the work of young Papuans who have made a leap in producing electronic goods such as cell phones and laptops.
“The Minister of Parekraf (Tourism and Creative Economy) said earlier, producing cellphones, producing laptops, this is being done not in western Indonesia, but in eastern Indonesia—in the Land of Papua, a leap,” said the President.
Meanwhile, Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno said that the Papua Street Carnival was the first creative economy performance in the land of Papua. This is certainly a positive historical record for tourism development and Papua’s creative economy.
“Papua Street Carnival is a place for creative economy actors, a reflection of young people to advance Papua. And his creations are extraordinary, massive, lively, and God willing, they will go global,” he said.
Sandi stated that the Papua Street Carnival would be held every year. He is optimistic that with the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and BIN led by Budi Gunawan, the creative industry in Papua will be more advanced, have a positive impact on the people of Papua and be in the world’s spotlight.
“I am very sure that, together with Pak Ka BIN, Papua can become a new regional icon, holding interesting events in the eyes of the world,” said Sandi.
