The Papuan people want peace and fully support the efforts of the security forces to wipe out the Free Papua Organization (OPM) in order to create conduciveness in the region nicknamed the Land of Cenderawasih.Of course, to be able to achieve regional peace and conduciveness, one of the things that must happen is to eliminate all forms of threats, which in the context of Papua, the biggest threat there is the existence of the OPM. Therefore, the security forces then attempted to completely eradicate the existence of the Free Papua Organization and this brought many forms of full support from all elements of local society.One of them was that residents in Bibida District, Paniai Regency, Central Papua fully supported the security forces in eradicating the presence of the OPM, especially after a separatist gang that was the enemy of the state shot dead a public transportation driver named Rusli, who in fact was an ordinary, innocent civilian.OPM led by Undius Kogoya shot Rusli dead in Timida Village, East Paniai District, Paniai Regency on Tuesday 11 June 2024. Not only that, but the perpetrator opened fire, making the local community afraid. Suddenly, according to the Commander of the Habema Koops Media Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) Arh Yogi Nugroho, community leaders representing the voices of local residents had expressed their full support to the security forces regarding the crackdown on the OPM.All citizens absolutely do not accept the presence of terrorist groups that are enemies of the nation in their territory. Moreover, what has been the behavior of the Free Papua Organization so far, which has often spread terror by confiscating agricultural products and shooting dead civilians. All the actions they are carrying out are of course completely disgraceful and do not uphold humanity and actually intimidate members of the public. Furthermore, in fact all community members really want their area to be safe from all forms of threats and disturbances, including from the OPM.
Some time before the incident in Bibida District, the Free Papua Organization also caused anxiety and caused people to feel afraid due to their terror. This happened when there were continuous attacks from the Afrianus Bagubau and Keny Tipagau groups which took place in Homeyo District, Intan Jaya Regency.Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Pangkogabwilhan) III Lieutenant General of the Indonesian National Army (Letjen TNI) Richard TH Tampubolon said that after the repeated attacks, the community became afraid and many of them wanted to flee. Responding to this, security forces from the joint TNI and Indonesian National Police (Polri) attempted to provide a sense of security in preventing the people of Pogapa village from fleeing due to the OPM attack.TNI soldiers from Koops Habema along with the Nanggala Kopassus Damai Cartenz Task Force immediately pursued and took firm action against several Free Papua Organization personnel, thereby reducing their strength. A significant impact arose, namely that thanks to the enforcement operation, the security forces succeeded in preventing the people of Pogapa Village, Homeyo District, from evacuating from their hometown.Meanwhile, Papuan community leader Yonas Alfons Nusy expressed his full support for the security forces of the joint TNI and Polri forces in taking very firm action against OPM’s actions. In very firm terms, Papuan community leaders consider that the existence of the Free Papua Organization is not actually a struggle as they have been advocating all this time, but instead is just a criminal act that seriously violates human rights (HAM).They carried out various kinds of cruel and barbaric acts, ranging from threats, terror, hostage-taking and acts of violence which have created a lot of fear in society. Starting from murder, taking hostages and burning public facilities, this is a criminal act that is completely wrong and very cruel and barbaric. Their actions have no moral basis or purpose that can receive any support or justification.Not only committing crimes, but for example in the case of the murder of Michelle Kurisi Doga some time ago, OPM also spread lies. So it is very clear that the claim that the struggle they have carried out so far has not had any real results, but is just an act of rebellion that is completely unproductive.Therefore, don’t let the Papuan people be easily influenced and provoked by the various actions carried out by OPM. And on the other hand, the existence of leaders and community figures has a key role in expressing how citizens reject the terrorist gang.Full support from all elements of Papuan society continues to flow towards the security forces’ efforts to eradicate the existence of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) and realize peace and conduciveness to the Earth of Cenderawasih.)* Papuan students live in Bandung
