Phase II of the People’s School Program Begins, New Hope for Children from Underprivileged Families
Jakarta — The government has officially launched the Phase II People’s School program as a continuation of efforts to expand access to free, quality education for children from underprivileged families throughout Indonesia. This program demonstrates the government’s commitment to breaking the cycle of poverty through inclusive, measurable, and sustainable education.
Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that after completing the renovation of 165 Phase I Pilot People’s Schools, the Ministry of Public Works has begun construction of Phase II People’s Schools in 104 locations across Indonesia.
“The construction of these People’s Schools is a concrete manifestation of the government’s commitment to developing superior human resources. The Ministry of Public Works wants to ensure that these educational facilities are built quickly and with high quality,” said Dody.

Each Phase II Public School will be permanently constructed on 5–10 hectares of land and will be equipped with modern facilities, such as technology-based classrooms, skills laboratories, digital libraries, canteens and healthy kitchens, student health clinics, and various sports facilities.
Meanwhile, Bagus Prima Anugerah, General Manager of PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk (ADHI)’s Building Department, stated that Adhi Karya has signed a contract for the construction of Phase II Public Schools in Central Java Province with the Ministry of Public Works’ Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure.
“As the main contractor, Adhi Karya will build educational facilities in six locations across Central Java, spanning from Jepara, Pati, Rembang, Sragen, and Sukoharjo Regencies to Semarang City,” Bagus said.
“All buildings are designed with the principles of health, safety, and adaptability in mind, while also supporting modern learning,” he continued.
Bagus is optimistic that the project will be carried out with quality, timeliness, cost effectiveness, administration, and benefits.
“As a national construction company, ADHI Karya affirms its position as a government partner in building infrastructure that provides real benefits to the community,” said Bagus.
With the commencement of this next phase, the government is calling on all elements of the nation to continue supporting equitable and just education for a progressive and prosperous Indonesia.
