Jakarta — The success of Jokowi’s government over the past 10 years, especially in terms of infrastructure development, economic growth, and international diplomacy, deserves appreciation. The transition of government from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka marks a major leap towards progress.

In a dialogue held on Primetime News Metro TV (24/9), two leading observers, Director of the School of Global Strategic Studies and UI Economic Observer, Athor Subroto, and Bung Karno University Political Economic Observer, Faisyal Chaniago, emphasized the importance of maintaining stability, overseeing the transition, and supporting the continuation of leading programs under the leadership of Prabowo-Gibran.

Bung Karno University’s Political Economy Observer, Faisyal Chaniago, stated that President Jokowi’s government approach could be emulated by Prabowo.

“Namely with a soft approach, how he embraces all his political competitors so that they are involved in his cabinet,” said Faisyal.

Faisyal also reminded the importance of giving appreciation to President Jokowi who has led for 10 years and implemented programs whose benefits can now be felt.

“Especially downstreaming, which needs to be supported by the next government. Harmonization, this concept can be implemented by the next government,” explained Faisyal.

Faisyal appreciates President Jokowi’s attitude of embracing and maintaining harmony, so that politics remains stable and there is no chaos. This harmonious political approach is what Prabowo hopes to do, and Faisyal also emphasized the importance of maintaining the transition period.

“The transition period must be maintained and monitored so that the development program runs sustainably,” said Faisyal.

Faisyal agreed that the sustainability of strategic programs would determine the success of the Prabowo-Gibran government.

“Programs that are already running, for example toll infrastructure, must not stop, because development is not enough for just 10 years. Therefore, it must be continuous and requires a smooth transition so that there is cooperation and synergy,” added Faisyal.

In line with that, the Director of the School of Global Strategic Studies and UI Economic Observer, Athor Subroto, appreciated the achievements made by the Jokowi administration.

“Amid the onslaught of global supply chain disruptions, Indonesia can still survive and grow better compared to other countries, even developed countries like Europe,” said Athor.

He highlighted that in the era of President Jokowi, Indonesia has become a well-developed country because of the foundation that produces a multiplier effect, such as the downstreaming program that maintains the economic process occurring domestically so that the multiplier effect is even greater.

“If this program is continued and driven with the right strategy, especially in the energy sector, then this will continue to drive down domestic production costs,” he added optimistically.

In addition, Athor highlighted the importance of commitment to a smooth transition from President Jokowi’s administration to President-elect Prabowo’s.

“A good transition allows the next government’s ‘quick win’ program to run quickly. This is something that must be implemented immediately,” Athor said.

Athor also emphasized that President Jokowi’s message to his staff to support Prabowo’s cabinet could provide a positive signal to the market that he wants this transition to be successful.

“Good leadership must be continued, because if not, it will become a problem,” said Athor.

According to him, ensuring a good transition will make all Indonesian people continue to progress.

“We will never think of going backwards again, because this is the path we must take to move forward and catch up,” Athor concluded.
