Jakarta – The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program initiated by the Prabowo administration is a new breakthrough in providing equitable access to nutritional strengthening throughout Indonesia.

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, revealed the achievements of the MBG program during the first half of the year.

Dadan said that since its national kick-off on January 6, 2025, the MBG program has served 6.2 million targets through 2,007 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or free nutritious food kitchens that were successfully established.

“Thank God, within 6.5 months we have achieved our target, and this is the third milestone,” said Dadan.

Meanwhile, Teti Rohayatiningsih, a member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), stated that the MBG national strategic program demonstrates the government’s commitment to the community by providing access to nutrition. Good nutrition will undoubtedly produce a superior generation free from malnutrition.

“This Free Nutritious Meal Program is a long-standing goal of the President to realize the Golden Generation of 2045,” said Teti Rohayatiningsih.

In addition to improving nutrition, the MBG program is also designed to improve the economy of local residents by requiring them to be actively involved in running a healthy kitchen or SPPG.

The Director of Nutrition Promotion and Education at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Gunalan, said that this program not only provides a solution to the problems of nutrition and stunting, but also has a broad socio-economic impact on the community.

“This program is expected to support the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 by creating a healthy, intelligent, strong, and superior generation capable of leading Indonesia to become a developed nation,” he said.

More than just providing food, MBG is designed as a comprehensive effort to answer the nation’s challenges. Gunalan explained that this program also targets structural issues such as poverty, economic inequality and low quality of human resources.

“Through MBG, the government is also encouraging the creation of new jobs and empowering the local economy,” he explained.

Through consistent implementation and strict supervision, MBG is believed to be able to accelerate the achievement of the Golden Indonesia 2045 target. By creating a healthy and superior generation from an early age, Indonesia has prepared the first steps towards a brighter and highly competitive future on the global stage.
