In the prestigious meeting that began Sunday morning local time, President Prabowo was present bringing the spirit of peace and strategic cooperation between countries amidst increasingly complex global geopolitical dynamics.

Starting the series of events at the Aterro do Flamengo Museum of Modern Art (MAM), President Prabowo was welcomed in an official ceremony with the heads of state of BRICS members. The main agenda of the first day included two plenary sessions entitled “Peace and Security and Global Governance Reform”, and “Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence”.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that Indonesia’s presence this time was very strategic considering its status as a full member of BRICS.

After the group photo session, intensive discussions began in a closed forum. President Prabowo together with high-ranking Indonesian officials conveyed their views on the importance of maintaining global security stability and the need for ethics in the use of artificial intelligence technology.

Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono emphasized the importance of creating a global economic architecture that is responsive to developing countries.

“BRICS can be a new space to fight for justice in economic policies and access to financing,” said Thomas.

The agenda continued into the afternoon with the presence of delegations from BRICS partners and international organizations. The session closed with an official reception by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, marking the close relationship between member countries in forming a new, inclusive global order.
