President Jokowi: Inauguration of PYCH Brings New Spirit of Young Papuan Talents to Work
Jayapura – The Papua Youth Creative Hub or PYCH building was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Tuesday (21/3). The building, which is located in Wahno Village, Abepura District, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, is expected to be a driving force for the development of young talents in Papua.
In addition, PYCH also acts as a forum or center for creativity for the young generation of Papua in strengthening a good ecosystem of innovation and technology.
President Jokowi said, there is still a lot of potential for quality Human Resources (HR) in Papua that has not been explored and developed.
President Jokowi also appreciated the enthusiasm of Papuan youths in welcoming PYCH which facilitated capacity and competency development in many fields such as animal husbandry, fisheries, agriculture, creative industries, fashion and many others.
“Why did we build PYCH? It’s because we want to provide opportunities for young people who have creativity, innovation, and a high desire in various fields. What is fashion, the creative industry, whatever is good so that everyone has a chance. Because Papua has a huge opportunity,” said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi hopes that the existence of PYCH can increase the welfare and progress of the beloved Papuan people.
“Indonesia’s development is not Java-centric, but Indonesia-centric. And the Land of Papua is a priority for the development that we are doing,” he added.
At the same moment, the Head of BIN, Police General (Purn.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc., Ph.D., revealed that the inauguration of PYCH was a form of the President’s commitment to building a Papuan talent center as a driving force for the economy and prosperity of Papua.
“Papua has a special place in the President’s heart with special attention to development, including the development of Papuan human resources and the development of Papuan male and female human resources. Therefore they love the President even more. Through the inauguration of PYCH, it will become the President’s Gold Ink Legacy in Papua,” he said.
The existence of PYCH was enthusiastically welcomed by millennial groups in Papua. Previously, Elia Musa Rawar, a Papuan youth leader, expressed his gratitude to President Joko Widodo and Head of BIN General Police (Purn.) Prof. Dr. Budi Gunawan, SH, M.Sc., Ph.D., for helping young Papuans to have facilities and infrastructure to support the foundation for community welfare development in the land of Papua.
“We thank Mr. President Jokowi and the Head of BIN Mr. Budi Gunawan for the construction of the PYCH Building,” said Elijah.
The Papuan youths will later collaborate in self-development with the assistance and guidance of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), moreover BIN is the catalyst for the construction of the PYCH Building in Papua.
BIN is also actively involved in various PYCH programs in order to foster Papuan youth to develop the various potentials of Papuan youths to improve the welfare of the Papuan people. []
