The President of the Republic of Indonesia ( RI ) Joko Widodo visited the State Capital (IKN) again on 23 February 2023 . The arrival of the head of state is a manifestation of the Government’s commitment to building IKN in order to advance Indonesia.
The government continues to accelerate the construction of IKN in East Kalimantan. On the occasion of a visit to the IKN, President Jokowi made his presentation that the development of the IKN was a big leap towards realizing a developed Indonesia . This was conveyed by President Jokowi during the inauguration of the XVIII Conference of the Muhammadiyah Youth Central Management (PP), which held at the Balikpapan Sport and Convention Center , Balikpapan City , East Kalimantan Province , some time ago .
According to the Head of State , the main reason for the construction of IKNs is equity in terms of the economy , population , and development infrastructure .
In this case President Jokowi said that so far the majority of Indonesia’s population is in Java with 58 percent ( economic GDP ), and 56 percent of Indonesia ‘s population is in Java . How dense the island of Java is , so it needs something called equitable development , not character Jawacentric but Indonesiacentric .
On this occasion , the President also stressed that relocating the capital city was not just a physical transfer of buildings or government buildings . But because , the transfer of work culture and new mindset accompanied by systems and human resources that are very well prepared .
Meanwhile , the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) , namely Basuki Hadimuljono , stated that he was ready and involved in the infrastructure development for the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago .
According to Basuki Hadimuljono , the construction of the IKN is not just moving cities and central government buildings , but also planning modern urban centers with the principle of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago as the Future Smart Forest City of Indonesia .
According to the PUPR Minister , moving the capital from Jakarta to East Kalimantan is a big leap towards a new Indonesia that offers great opportunities . He added that subsequently the new IKN must demonstrate the sustainability of social, economic and environmental aspects of life .
Basuki continued , adding that the huge potential for the development of IKN is also a big challenge for architects , urban planners , specialists in urban planning and urban design and engineers to participate and collaborate . We are looking forward to new ideas and creativity based on a philosophy modern city integrated with local wisdom . _ _
The Minister of PUPR hopes that the three pillars of the vision and goals of the new IKN will reflect the progress of the nation , so that they can be used as examples for the development of other cities in Indonesia. Reflecting national identity , which is translated in urban design philosophically from the pillars of nationality , namely Pancasila , Bhinneka Tunggal Ika , NKRI and the 1945 Constitution .
Because of this , the new IKN development concept minimizes intervention in nature , integrates green and blue spaces and maintains the existence of the Kalimantan forest or City in the Forest .
Then , the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago is a smart and modern city with international standards . The new IKN has become a compact city , relying on information and communication technology to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) .
With the construction of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago, transformations in a number of fields will be carried out , from the transformation of the environment , society , to mobility itself . According to the President , transportation at IKN Nusantara will eventually use green energy that is efficient as well as energy efficient and low in carbon dioxide .
President Joko Widodo revealed that building an IKN that truly shows the greatness of the Indonesian nation , reflects national identity , guarantees social , economic and environmental sustainability , creates forest cities , smart cities , modern and sustainable cities , and has international standards .
In addition , the President considers that KN also fulfills Indonesia’s commitment to tackling climate change which can be seen from the achievement and management of various indicators towards net zero carbon and 100 percent new and renewable energy by 2060 .
According to the President , the IKN development project is not a short – term project and will take 10 to 15 years to build . Even so , the President emphasized that construction of the IKN infrastructure had already begun , as evidenced by its construction .
In a statement before the media crew , President Joko Widodo explained that the Presidential Palace Area will be ready to be used for the celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day ( HUT ) in August 2024 .
In addition , the President is very aware that the development of the Archipelago IKN receives the attention of various parties so that many aspirations and high hopes arise for it . This makes IKN a big collective work that requires the contribution , role and cooperation of all contributing parties .
Therefore , with the development of the National Archipelago IKN it is a new history inscribed by Indonesia to create transformational changes that will have an impact on Indonesia ‘s progress in the future . Therefore , the full support of the Indonesian people is needed , so that the development of IKN can be successful quickly realized according to the expectations of many parties .
