President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will soon inaugurate the PYCH Building in Jayapura, Papua. The PYCH building is one of the Indonesian Government’s efforts to accommodate creativity and support the role of the younger generation in managing Papua’s economic potential.
The PYCH building was built magnificently, with traditional nuances and has complete facilities to support the interests, talents and creativity of young people in the Land of Papua.
This building has facilities to support the development of young people in the Land of Papua in various fields, including culinary , hospitality , research, technology, entrepreneurship, creative industries, digital, education and literacy, health, beauty, culture to language.
The PYCH building consists of the main building, dormitory building, sports field, utility building, parking and guard post. The architectural design of the roof of the main building was inspired by the traditional houses of the people of Jayapura and Wamena City, namely the Honai roof and the Kariwari roof.
The building was built on an area of 15 thousand square meters . In this case, PYCH has a main building area of 3,520 square meters and 1,812 square meters of supporting buildings. This building has a parking area with a capacity of 53 cars, 154 motorbikes, and landscapes .
In practice, the PYCH building adopts a green building concept that utilizes natural energy, such as lighting and wind. Thus, the PYCH Building does not need lights during the day.
The PYCH building is a facility for the government to realize people’s welfare in the Land of Papua. This is in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua and West Papua Provinces.
In this case, the PYCH Building will be used and utilized by Inspiring Young Papuans (PMI) to carry out various work programs that they have designed in such a way as to be able to contribute to advancing the welfare of the people in Papua and West Papua.
This is because many of the work programs that have been designed by PMI friends require a platform that really supports them, as well as many facilities that support them. For this reason, the Government of Indonesia through the State Intelligence Agency ( BIN ) is here and proves how the state is able to answer all of this.
Previously, President Jokowi said that the construction of PYCH was a follow-up to the meeting between President Jokowi and Young Papuan Inspiring Leaders at the State Palace in September 2019. Furthermore, the central government supports the development of creativity centers to provide more space for Papuan and West Papuan youth in the development of technology, innovation and local Papuan products.
PYCH itself is a facility designed by the Government of Indonesia in collaboration with various parties including BIN which is able to accommodate various kinds of talents , such as millennial farmers, digital ecosystems to research and innovation development. In fact, the President believes that the future of Papua will be very capable of influencing the future of Indonesia, which is also in the hands of PYCH.
Deputy IV for Economic Intelligence at BIN, Made Kartikajaya, during a direct inspection of the PYCH Building, said that the progress of the PYCH construction had reached 99.9% and would soon be inaugurated by President Jokowi.
Made added that from the results of the review, BIN suggested improvements at a number of points to improve the building, including sports fields to stair railings . He also checked one by one the rooms and facilities in the building. As for later, when it is inaugurated, PYCH will be handed over from the Ministry of Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) to BIN.
PMI, who is under the guidance of BIN , will collaborate with various parties, develop themselves and continue to be the engine for the development of young Human Resources (HR) for young people in Cendrawasih Earth.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional II Settlement Infrastructure Implementation Work Unit for Papua Province, Meinar Manurung, admitted that he received input from BIN to speed up the repair process.
The Head of the Papua Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center, Cornelis Sagrim hopes that PYCH can become a driving force and function as a center for the development of young talents in Papua. In addition, PYCH can act as a center of creativity for young Papuans in strengthening a good innovation and technology ecosystem.
On the other hand, PMI Coordinator for the Papua Region , Neil Aiwoy, who accompanied the visit, said he was grateful to the Government of Indonesia for building PYCH.
The construction of this building is one of the many facilities provided to young Papuans and the Papuan people by President Jokowi and Head of BIN, Gen. Pol (P) Budi Gunawan. With the existence of PYCH initiated by PMI assisted by BIN, it is hoped that young people will have the opportunity to be able to innovate and provide the best work for the Land of Papua and for Indonesia.
