Jakarta — President Prabowo Subianto urged the public to remain calm and place full trust in the government amid the ongoing demonstrations over the past few days. The Head of State emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing all public complaints with full seriousness.

“In a situation like this, I urge all people to remain calm and trust the government I lead. The government will do its best for our people,” said President Prabowo Subianto.

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that every public aspiration is crucial input for policymaking. He stated that the government will not turn a blind eye to emerging complaints, but he also reminded the public to be wary of those seeking to exploit the situation.

“We will record and follow up on all public complaints. However, I also urge all Indonesians to remain vigilant against elements seeking to create unrest and chaos,” President Prabowo Subianto emphasized.

Furthermore, President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that anarchic actions would not benefit the people or the nation. He called on all elements to express their aspirations in a peaceful and responsible manner.

“This does not benefit the people, it does not benefit society, and it does not benefit our nation,” added President Prabowo Subianto.

Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi also apologized for the incident that killed an online motorcycle taxi driver during a riot on the ground. The government is committed to following up on the incident to prevent a recurrence.

“We apologize for any incident, which we certainly did not want,” said Prasetyo Hadi.

He added that security forces were asked to be more careful in carrying out their security duties. Humanitarian measures were considered crucial to ensure that demonstrations were handled without causing casualties.

“We specifically ask the police to remain patient and carry out security measures with the utmost caution, including asking for special attention to the incident mentioned above,” said Prasetyo Hadi.

Support for efforts to calm the situation also came from the General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), KH Yahya Cholil Staquf. He emphasized the importance of finding more peaceful and constructive avenues for channeling aspirations.

“Hopefully, the public and relevant parties, especially those in the government, can immediately take action that will bring a calmer, more peaceful situation, thus providing the opportunity and space for all of us to manage all of these problems better,” said KH Yahya Cholil Staquf.

He emphasized that the government has truly heard the people’s aspirations. Therefore, a calm and substantive dialogue mechanism must be prioritized to ensure more targeted policies are produced.

“At this moment, I think it is very clear that all demands and aspirations have been heard, that what the citizens who have aspirations for policy want has been heard,” continued KH Yahya Cholil Staquf.

Gus Yahya emphasized that a conducive national climate is essential for facing the major challenges of the future. With unity, the Indonesian people are believed to be capable of overcoming any problem.

“Let us think about the common interests of a nation in the midst of this situation to face great challenges and we must survive together for our common interests,” concluded KH Yahya Cholil Staquf.
