Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating post-disaster recovery following the flash floods and landslides that struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The President ordered that priority be given to the rapid construction of temporary housing (huntara) and permanent housing (huntap) for affected residents so that evacuees can quickly return to safe and decent living conditions.

In his directives to relevant ministers, the President stressed that the state must not be slow in providing replacement housing for disaster victims. He instructed all elements of the government to work in an integrated manner and not to allow land-related issues to become obstacles. The President firmly ordered the use of state-owned land for humanitarian purposes.

“So, all elements must work together. There should be no excuses about searching for land or the like. Use existing state-owned land,” Prabowo asserted.

These directives reflect the President’s determination to ensure the state’s presence among communities affected by disasters. The construction of temporary and permanent housing is seen not merely as a physical project, but as part of restoring dignity, a sense of security, and the sustainability of residents’ lives.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the President has given serious attention to accelerating the construction of housing for evacuees. According to Teddy, the Head of State has instructed that the development process should not be prolonged and must be completed as soon as possible.

“The construction of temporary and permanent housing for all disaster-affected residents in Sumatra—President wants it to be completed as quickly as possible,” he said.

Echoing this, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno emphasized that disaster management is being carried out by mobilizing all national resources. The government is not only focused on emergency response, but is also preparing medium- and long-term solutions.

“Emergency response continues, and at the same time temporary housing must be prepared immediately. In fact, if possible, moving directly to permanent housing would be even better,” Pratikno said.

He added that housing locations are being prepared with considerations of safety, proximity to residents’ original communities, and their livelihoods. The government is optimistic that these swift and coordinated measures will accelerate the recovery of community life while reaffirming the state’s role in protecting its people during times of crisis.
