Jakarta – Chairman of Indonesia’s National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, MA, announced that the Indonesian government is sending 800 tons of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, Palestine. The delivery is part of the Garuda Merah Putih II mission, carried out in conjunction with the 80th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence on August 17, 2025.

“We are ready. As mentioned, 800 tons will be sent, and even if it reaches 1,000 tons, we are prepared—whether from Egypt or from Jordan,” he said during the aid send-off at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta.

A total of 80 tons will be delivered via air through the Garuda Merah Putih II Task Force, while the remainder will be distributed by land through Egypt and Jordan.

For the air mission, two Indonesian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from Air Squadron 31 will depart from Jordan on August 17, with follow-up airdrops scheduled for August 18, 19, and 20, 2025.

Prof. Noor Achmad emphasized that the aid delivery window is open from August 1 to 24, 2025. According to him, this mission is being maximized thanks to the strategic initiative of the Indonesian President.

“The President’s foresight in extending help to the Palestinian people is truly extraordinary and deserves our collective support,” he said.

Part of BAZNAS’ aid is already staged in Egypt and Jordan. From Jordan, distribution will be carried out via airdrop, while from Egypt, BAZNAS is coordinating with Bayt Zakat to push through 50 truckloads of supplies via the Rafah border crossing.

“We already have supplies in Egypt and Jordan. For Jordan, distribution can only be done via airdrop, while from Egypt, we are continuing efforts to send in 50 container trucks in cooperation with Bayt Zakat through Rafah,” he explained.

Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto stated that the humanitarian mission involves 66 personnel drawn from the TNI, government institutions, and national media.

“The Garuda Merah Putih II Task Force, using two C-130J Hercules aircraft from Air Squadron 31, with a total of 66 personnel—consisting of TNI members, ministries and institutions, and national media—will deliver 800 tons of humanitarian aid from BAZNAS, along with food support from the Ministry of Defense,” he said.

Aid delivery through airdrop was chosen because land routes into Gaza remain highly risky due to blockades and ongoing attacks. This mission is part of an international humanitarian operation involving 10 countries and stands as proof of Indonesia’s commitment to providing direct support for the people of Palestine.
