President Prabowo’s State Address Ensures Red and White Cooperatives Provide Access to Affordable Food
Jakarta – In his State Address before the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the government’s commitment to expanding access to affordable, quality food through the strategic Red and White Cooperative program. This program is a top priority in the national food sovereignty agenda.
“To address the concentrated circulation of money in the capital and major cities, we established 80,000 Village Cooperatives and Red and White Sub-district Cooperatives,” said President Prabowo.
The Merah Putih Cooperative is designed to ease the burden on the community by providing basic necessities at affordable prices. Its business lines include the provision of basic necessities like rice and affordable cooking oil, as well as the distribution of subsidized products like 3-kg LPG and fertilizer.
“Village and sub-district cooperatives will also ease the burden on our nation by selling affordable rice, cooking oil, subsidized LPG, and subsidized fertilizer at the selling price,” said the President.
In addition, the Merah Putih Cooperative will also have other business units such as savings and loans, health clinics, village pharmacies, and warehousing and logistics systems to shorten the long distribution chain.
“We will also ensure that people have access to protein such as fish and meat at affordable prices,” the President concluded.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, said that the Red and White Cooperative program rolled out by the government is useful for strengthening the people’s economy.
“The Red and White Cooperative is a tool for the people’s economic struggle to become economically strong,” said Ahmad Muzani.
The Red and White Cooperative is also expected to develop MSMEs in the region so that job opportunities can be opened up.
Therefore, his party hopes that the Red and White Cooperative program can continue to roll out for the benefit of the community.
“This strategic movement aims to build a modern village economic ecosystem that favors the common people,” said Ahmad Muzani.
With the spirit of mutual cooperation, President Prabowo is confident that the Red and White Cooperative will become a new milestone in building economic justice in Indonesia.
