Aceh – President Prabowo Subianto again conducted on-site inspections of several disaster-affected areas in Sumatra to ensure effective emergency response and post-disaster recovery.

This visit focused on checking the distribution of logistics, the readiness of evacuation posts, and health services for communities affected by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

President Prabowo emphasized the importance of cross-sector synergy, from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), to local governments, in providing maximum protection for affected residents.

In addition to ensuring that the community’s basic needs are met, the President also reviewed the accelerated restoration of vital infrastructure damaged by the disaster, such as bridges, roads, embankments, and communication networks. This infrastructure is considered crucial for the return of community activities to normal and the unimpeded distribution of aid.

President Prabowo also emphasized that public safety must be the highest priority in every stage of disaster management.

He requested that basic necessities, especially medicines, be promptly and timely distributed to the public.

“Don’t let anything the people need go unanswered. I think medicines must be prioritized immediately. All needs must be met immediately,” said the President.

The President assured that the government would rebuild homes destroyed by floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

“We have deployed dozens of helicopters and dozens of planes. We will overcome this together. We have prepared a plan to replace all the destroyed houses,” said Prabowo.

The President explained that the government has allocated a special budget for disaster management in Sumatra and Aceh, including the provision of temporary and permanent housing for those who lost their homes.

However, he cautioned that the reconstruction process will take time as the government is still collecting detailed data while expediting the distribution of emergency aid.

“Of course, we need patience from all of you, ladies and gentlemen, because we cannot complete everything immediately. I apologize, the President of the Republic of Indonesia does not have the staff of the Prophet Moses, I do not,” said the President.

He assured that the government is working hard to address the impact of the disaster and will not leave the community alone in facing this difficult situation, including ensuring that children can return to school immediately.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you are not alone; we will be together,” the President added.

President Prabowo is scheduled to continue conducting inspections to ensure that evacuation posts are functioning optimally, health services are available, food and medicine needs are met, and strategic infrastructure can be quickly restored to public use.
