Jakarta – Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, announced that President Prabowo Subianto has officially signed a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on the Acceleration of Development on Enggano Island, Bengkulu. The policy is expected to quickly drive equitable development on the island.

“President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, has officially signed the Inpres on the Acceleration of Development on Enggano Island in Bengkulu Province. This represents the government’s commitment to safeguarding sovereignty and ensuring equitable development throughout Indonesia,” said Prasetyo.

Prasetyo Hadi also expressed hope that the signing of the Inpres would bring tangible benefits to the local community.

“We hope this brings real improvements to the welfare of the people of Enggano,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sultan B. Najamudin, expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s swift response to the accessibility challenges on Enggano Island, Bengkulu. He noted that the signing of the Presidential Instruction is clear evidence of the state’s presence.

“On behalf of the people of Bengkulu, we thank President Prabowo. His swift and strategic decision to address the basic needs of the people on Enggano Island is a true testament to the government’s presence in the outermost and frontier regions of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Sultan.

Sultan stated that President Prabowo’s quick action offers renewed hope for the thousands of Enggano residents who have long faced access limitations.

“This concerns the livelihood and daily lives of the people of Enggano, who heavily rely on maritime transportation as their economic lifeline. Enggano’s agricultural potential, particularly bananas, along with its fisheries and cattle farming, serve as vital food sources for Bengkulu,” he emphasized.

Sultan underscored his deep understanding of the urgency and importance of port infrastructure and public transportation vessels for communities in island regions.

“Beyond Enggano Island, there are still many other island areas that remain a focus of government attention. That’s why the DPD RI continues to push for the speedy ratification of the Bill on Island Regions (RUU Daerah Kepulauan) as a legal foundation to strengthen public services in outermost regions,” he concluded.

It is noted that President Prabowo Subianto recently signed the Inpres to accelerate development on Enggano Island, Bengkulu. President Prabowo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting development in the region.
