Jakarta – In an effort to anticipate a potential spike in Covid-19 cases, the Government through the Covid-19 Handling Task Force and cross-ministerial/institutional agencies is tightening supervision of foreign travelers (PPLN).

This policy was taken following the increasing trend of cases in a number of countries and the emergence of new variants detected in regional areas.

As part of early mitigation measures against potential spikes in Covid-19 cases, the Ministry of Health continues to closely monitor the development of the pandemic situation, both at the global and national levels. Although there have been no reports of significant new cases to date, vigilance is maintained by conducting active monitoring and cross-sector coordination.
“Updated data (detected Covid-19 cases) is not yet available. Anticipatory measures, monitoring the global and national situation are always carried out,” said Ministry of Health Spokesperson Widyawati.

As a form of strengthening the early detection system, the Ministry of Health also activates various surveillance mechanisms to quickly find cases at the health service facility and community levels.

These efforts include monitoring symptoms of respiratory illnesses potentially related to Covid-19 or other infectious diseases.

“Intensifying the discovery of ILI, pneumonia, SARI, and COVID-19 cases through SKDR, allrecord-tc19 (NAR) and/or ILI-SARI sentinel surveillance, Monitoring foreign travelers (PPLN) at the country’s entry points through the Satu Sehat Health Pass (SSHP),” added Widyawati.

Furthermore, Widyawati said that the Ministry of Health will conduct periodic risk assessments of all districts and cities in Indonesia.

This step aims to map the level of regional vulnerability to a potential spike in COVID-19 cases and ensure the readiness of regional health systems in dealing with a possible increase in transmission.

“There has been a Circular on Alertness for the Increase in COVID-19 Cases to the UPT for Health Quarantine, Health Service, Health Facilities, UPT Labkesmas and their networks (SE Plt. Dirjen P2 No. SR.03.01/C/1422/2025),” he continued.

The Ministry of Health will also increase health promotion to the public regarding the prevention of COVID-19 through social media, as part of public education to strengthen awareness and joint vigilance.***
