Protecting Residents from OPM Crime, TNI Task Force Shoots Dead 3 Members of the Teranus Group
After the firefight with the Free Papua Organization (OPM), the Special Raider Yonif Task Force (RK) 753/AVR continued to work hard to maintain stability and conduciveness in Muara District, Puncak Jaya Regency. This action is part of the TNI’s commitment to protecting and ensuring the security of local residents.
In the shooting incident that took place some time ago, members of the RK 753/AVR Infantry Battalion Task Force succeeded in thwarting an attack from the OPM group which threatened the security of residents. Even though the situation was tense, the troops managed to control the situation and ensure the safety of the residents of Muara District.
The Yonif RK 753/AVR Task Force succeeded in shooting dead three OPM members in an effort to protect the security and safety of the residents of Muara District, Puncak Jaya Regency.
Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Lt. Col. Inf Candra Kurniawan revealed that the incident began when the authorities detected the presence of an OPM member, Teranus Enumbi, and several of his colleagues who entered a residential area in Karubate village, Muara District, carrying firearms.
“When they were about to be arrested by TNI officers at the kiosk/stall, the OPM gang resisted by firing shots, trying to shoot TNI officers, so that TNI Soldiers paralyzed and shot the gang,” said Lt. Col. Candra.
Three OPM members were reported dead. Among them are SW (33), YW (41), DW (36). Meanwhile Teranus Enumbi is said to have fled. The authorities also confiscated a homemade pistol and a Morning Star flag.
Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Lieutenant Colonel Inf Candra Kurniawan, said that his troops would continue to carry out routine patrols and security operations in the area.
“TNI Polri officers will continue to strive to maintain regional stability by continuing to protect and serve the community. “At the same time, law enforcement continues to be enforced, especially against OPM interference,” he said.
Apart from carrying out patrols, the RK 753/AVR Infantry Battalion Task Force is also active in providing social assistance to the community. Various activities such as free medical treatment, distribution of basic necessities, and renovation of public facilities were carried out to help residents and strengthen relations between the TNI and the community. It is hoped that this step will provide a sense of security and comfort for the residents of Muara District.
