JAKARTA — The expansionary fiscal policy implemented by the government under President Prabowo Subianto has received positive responses from various segments of society.

The public views the government’s move to expand fiscal space as a strong signal of national economic recovery and equitable growth.

Deputy Speaker of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), Tamsil Linrung, stated that the government’s fiscal policy demonstrates its commitment to supporting local regions and grassroots communities.

“The fiscal architecture over the past year shows a growing pro-regional orientation. The government is ensuring that the budget does not stop at the central level but flows directly to the regions so that the benefits can be felt immediately by the people,” he said in Jakarta.

According to Tamsil, this strategy is an important step to ensure that the benefits of national programs truly reach the lower levels of society.

He cited the increase in the Farmers’ Exchange Rate (NTP) over the past year as evidence of the positive impact of fiscal policy on the people’s economy.

“The Free Nutritious Meal Program not only provides food but also stimulates local economic activity,” he emphasized.

Tamsil further noted that the fiscal design of President Prabowo’s administration reflects a pro-people development ideology, focusing on the real sectors such as food security, village cooperatives, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

“The government is restructuring the distribution of welfare so that the benefits of development are more tangible, even in remote areas,” he added.

Meanwhile, Executive Director of Indonesia Political Opinion (IPO), Dedi Kurnia Syah, stated that survey results show the majority of Indonesians support the government’s economic policies.

“The high satisfaction rate indicates that the public continues to have confidence in President Prabowo’s leadership,” he said.

According to the IPO survey conducted in May 2025, 71 percent of respondents supported budget efficiency measures, and 68 percent rated the Free Nutritious Meal Program as running well.

Furthermore, the President’s approval rating stood at 81 percent, reflecting optimism about the direction of Indonesia’s economy.

From an economic performance standpoint, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized that Indonesia’s 5.04 percent (year-on-year) economic growth in the third quarter of 2025 proves that expansionary fiscal policy has been effective.

“The State Budget (APBN) plays a key role in maintaining public purchasing power and supporting businesses to become more competitive globally,” he said.

Purbaya explained that the expansionary fiscal policy strengthens growth foundations by increasing consumption, investment, and exports.

“The expansionary fiscal approach is designed not only to sustain consumption but also to create new investment opportunities,” he elaborated.

Overall, the public believes that the government’s fiscal policy has succeeded in maintaining stability while strengthening the foundation of the national economy.

There is growing hope that this pro-people fiscal strategy will continue to advance the welfare of all Indonesians.
