PYCH Assisted by BIN, Emerges Talented Young Papuan Singers to Perform at the Papua Street Carnaval
Jakarta – The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) will hold a Papua Street Carnival event around the Governor of Papua’s office in early July 2023.
The Papua Street Carnival event is collaborating with the Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH), which is under the auspices of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN).
Prior to the main event, a singing audition was held which was part of the Papua Street Carnival pre-event.
The Singing Audition For Papua Street Carnival event was attended by dozens of talented singers from Papua. They enthusiastically and in high spirits showed their talents on stage.
In a rigorous audition process, only seven participants were successfully selected to proceed to the next stage. These selected participants will receive guidance and training to prepare for their performances at the main event of the Papua Street Carnival.
One of the participants who successfully passed the audition was Marsanda Imbiri (21). He expressed his happiness and pride for his passing in this event. For him, taking part in a big event like the Papua Street Carnival is an extraordinary honor.
“I feel happy, nervous, don’t think I can take part in an audition of this magnitude. I am happy, proud and grateful,” said Marsanda at the music studio in the PYCH building, Monday (3/7/2023).
Marsanda, who has impressive talent and voice, is ready to appear on the main stage of the Papua Street Carnival. He is excited to show his best performance and share his talent with the audience who attended the event.
“My hope is that in the future I can move on to make Papua proud. (I) really want to (become a singer),” said the third semester student.
Pride for having passed is also felt by Ino Kyeukyeu (25). According to him, the big event of the Papua Street Carnival is an event to show the talents of Papuan children.
“It is very extraordinary that auditions are held within the framework of the Papua Street Carnival. This is an event that will show the talents of Papuan children,” said Ino.
Ino said he was very happy and admitted that the competition in the auditions was very tight because Papuan children have extraordinary talent.
“My hope is that this event will continue to exist, and there will be more big events that show the original talents of Papuan children,” he said.
With the presence of Marsanda, Ino, and other selected participants, the Papua Street Carnival will be even more lively and stunning.
It is hoped that this event will become a stage for Papuan talents to shine and make a positive contribution in introducing Papuan culture and tourism potential to the world.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Menparekraf Sandiaga Salahudin Uno are planned to attend the event.
The Papua Street Carnival event involves thousands of creative economy actors, thousands of performers, hundreds of fashion parades, hundreds of creative MSME exhibitions, hundreds of decorative boats to a carnival. All elements of this event are designed to reflect the rich culture and traditional heritage of Papua, so that participants and spectators can feel the uniqueness and beauty of Papua.
With the active participation of young Papuans, designers, artists and other creative economy actors, this event has the potential to become an annual event that is eagerly awaited and become an icon of Papuan tourism.
