The Papua Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) building initiated by the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) has now been completed and is ready to be inaugurated by President Jokowi in the near future. The existence of these facilities is certainly one of BIN’s efforts to support the progress of the young generation of Papua.

Equitable development was one of the programs emphasized during President Jokowi’s reign. One area that has received special attention from President Jokowi is Papua. Even Jokowi is the President of Indonesia who most often visits the Earth of Cendrawasih.

In order to accelerate equitable development in Papua, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) continues to support and encourage the progress of Human Resources (HR) in the Land of Papua, one of which is through fostering youth organizations, namely Papua Muda Inspiring (PMI), including also by supporting the construction of the Papua building. Youth Creative Hub (PYCH) which aims to increase the talents and potential of the young generation of Papua.

The construction of PYCH is a follow-up to President Jokowi’s meeting with a number of young Papuans in September 2019. Then when inaugurating the Youtefa Bridge at the end of 2019, the President appreciated the launch of the PMI program, including PYCH.

President Jokowi stated that the presence of PYCH could develop the talents of Papuan youths in various fields, ranging from science, sports, arts and culture, and others. They have great potential for advancement. Later, PYCH will become a platform for various talents such as millennial farmers, digital ecosystems, and research and innovation development.

The PYCH building, which was built magnificently, luxuriously and with traditional nuances, will be used and utilized by PMI in carrying out its work program. PMI will later collaborate, develop themselves and continue to be the driving force for the development of the younger generation in the Land of Papua. The building has facilities to support the development of young people in the Land of Papua in various fields, including  culinary, hospitality , research, technology, entrepreneurship, creative industries, digital, education and literacy, health, beauty, culture to language.

This building consists of the main building, dormitory building, landscape, sports field, utility building, parking and guard post. The architectural design of the roof of the main building was inspired by the traditional houses of the people of Jayapura and Wamena City, namely the Honai roof and the Kariwari roof. The building was built on an area of 15 thousand square meters, PYCH has a main building area of 3,520 square meters and 1,812 square meters of supporting buildings. The building has a parking area with a capacity of 53 cars, 154 motorbikes, and landscapes.

This building also adopts a  green building concept  that utilizes natural energy, such as lighting and wind. So, the PYCH building does not need lights during the day. In addition, the building is also equipped with a centralized fire alarm system in the control room, connected to all loudspeakers inside and outside the building.

Meanwhile, PMI itself is an organization fostered by BIN whose task is to bring new enthusiasm to young people on Cendrawasih Earth. Through PMI, it is hoped that the young generation of Papua can implement their potential and creative ideas in order to participate in accelerating the welfare of the people in the Land of Papua.

PMI Secretary for the Papua region, Vitha Faidiban expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi and the Head of BIN Gen. Pol (Purn) Budi Gunawan for the construction of the PYCH building. PMI stated that the construction of the building was one of many facilities provided to young Papuans and the Papuan people by President Jokowi and Head of BIN Budi Gunawan.

Vitha Faidiban revealed that with the kindness and love that the Head of BIN has for the Land of Papua, he is truly able to provide them with the opportunity to make good use of the PYCH building and can continue to increase their innovation and provide the best work for the Land of Papua for Indonesia.

The existence of PMI in supporting the people’s economy has also begun to be seen. This is reflected in PMI’s success in supporting the economy through agricultural products, which have succeeded in harvesting corn several times. One of them is in the area of Kampung Kwadeware and Kampung Doyo Lama, Waibu District, Kab. Jayapura, Papua.

For information, the harvest was carried out on 7.5 hectares of land with a yield of around 16.1 tons. It is estimated that the next harvest will be carried out again in May 2023. The total available land in Waibu District is 83.64 hectares. At that location, 20.3 hectares of corn have been planted and other land is in the processing process for planting. Previously, harvesters had also been harvested in the Namblong District, Jayapura on a 10 hectare land with a yield of 20 tons.

PMI District Coordinator Jayapura, Daud Edison Yarisetouw revealed that CV Tripilar Perkasa would buy the crops to be used as chicken feed. Chicken feed products will be packaged with the PYCH label. The results of this harvest will certainly be enjoyed by PMI and the surrounding community.

BIN plays a major role in supporting and encouraging the progress of the young generation of Papua, including in developing the talents and interests of their young people, namely with the presence of PMI and the PYCH building which is equipped with various extraordinary facilities. Of course, with all these facilities, it is a real form of work from the strong commitment possessed by the Head of BIN in order to promote the welfare of the people in Papua.
