Jakarta – The government has once again demonstrated its genuine commitment to the working people. In a swift response to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Siraitofficially announced an increase in the quota for subsidized housing for workers to 50,000 units by the end of 2025. This policy reaffirms the government’s commitment to ensuring that every worker has the opportunity to live in decent and affordable housing.

The announcement was delivered at a joint press conference with Minister of Manpower Yassierli in Jakarta. Maruarar, popularly known as Ara, explained that the surge in quota was driven by the high demand from workers for the subsidized housing program. Initially, the quota was set at 20,000 units, then raised to 35,000 units, yet the demand continued to outpace supply. Following input from the Minister of Manpower, the quota was immediately increased to 50,000 units without hesitation.

“We immediately approved this quota increase because it is for the people, especially workers who are the backbone of national development,” Ara emphasized.

This initiative not only meets the urgent housing needs but also serves as a strategic instrument to reduce the housing ownership backlog, which in 2024 still stood at 9 million units. The government recognizes that homeownership is a fundamental right for every citizen, and this program provides a tangible solution.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli stressed that the subsidized housing program also acts as a driver of the national economy. With the involvement of 183 industries—ranging from construction materials to small businesses around the housing sites—the benefits are extensive, stimulating economic activity across various sectors.

Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Fahri Hamzah added that this program aligns with the government’s broader targets: renovating 2 million homes, constructing 1 million vertical housing units, and ensuring distribution is based on the National Socio-Economic Single Data (DTSN) in line with Presidential Instruction No. 4 of 2025. The off-taker scheme, developed jointly with State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, will guarantee absorption of every unit without marketing hurdles, leaving citizens to simply wait their turn in a fair and transparent queue.

This increase in quota proves that the government is not merely making promises but is taking concrete action. From the central to the local level, all are working to ensure that Indonesian workers can realize their dream of homeownership. This is a historic step that strengthens confidence that under the leadership of President Prabowo, the welfare of the people truly remains the top priority.
