Ramadan 2026: Double Social Assistance Scheme Launched to Ease the Burden on Underprivileged Families
Jakarta – Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, stated that the distribution of regular social assistance (bansos) in the first quarter of 2026 is ongoing.
As of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, regular social assistance distribution has reached 90 percent nationally, as part of the government’s commitment to maintaining the purchasing power and resilience of underprivileged families.
“Thank God, the regular social assistance distribution process continues and has now reached more than 90 percent nationally, for the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), or basic food aid,” said Gus Ipul.
The distribution includes two main programs, namely the Family Hope Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) or basic food assistance, which targets millions of beneficiary families (KPM) throughout Indonesia.
This scheme forms the foundation of routine social protection that is strengthened annually ahead of Ramadan, when household needs tend to increase.
In addition to regular social assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is also rolling out adaptive or disaster-related social assistance in disaster-affected areas such as Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
For these three provinces, the Ministry of Social Affairs has distributed PKH social assistance and basic food packages to 1,763,038 beneficiary families with a total budget of IDR 1.8 trillion.
“Regular social assistance for the three provinces was provided to 1,763,038 beneficiary families, with a budget value of IDR 1.8 trillion,” he said.
During the rehabilitation and reconstruction period following the Sumatra disaster, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed living insurance assistance to 175,211 beneficiaries amounting to Rp 450 thousand per person for three months, with a total budget of more than Rp 238 billion.
“The value is over Rp 238 billion. The distribution process has begun, as the beneficiaries have been verified. It began with a proposal from the local government and was signed by the Minister of Home Affairs as Head of the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Acceleration Task Force. Then, we began distributing the funds in stages through PT POS and BSI,” explained Gus Ipul.
Other assistance includes housing for more than 47 thousand KPM with a value of more than IDR 143 billion, with each family receiving IDR 3 million.
In line with this, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto previously emphasized that the government is also preparing additional food aid as an economic stimulus for Ramadan 2026.
“Food aid is intended to expand purchasing power and strengthen the demand side. The government is also distributing food aid,” said Airlangga Hartarto, as quoted from the official YouTube channel PerekonomianRI.
Through a dual social assistance scheme—regular and adaptive—the government wants to ensure comprehensive social protection during Ramadan.
