Jakarta – Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the government has consistently demonstrated its dedication to upholding workers’ rights through a series of progressive and pro-labor policies.

Ahead of the planned protest on August 28, 2025, various parties are urging the public to remain alert to potential provocations from certain groups. It is hoped that any expression of aspirations will take place peacefully, without causing unrest or disrupting public order.

Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, emphasized that the DPR is ready to officially hear workers’ concerns without the need for actions that could lead to chaos.

“Friends who are voicing their aspirations, God willing, will be received by colleagues here at the DPR building,” said Puan.

She explained that the DPR has a Public Aspirations Body (BAM) dedicated to receiving public concerns.

“This institution exists to accommodate their objections, complaints, and aspirations, and to understand the reasons behind them,” Puan added.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that the August 28 protest by labor groups in front of the DPR building is a response to a Constitutional Court (MK) ruling calling for labor-related laws to be removed from the Omnibus Law. He affirmed that the DPR will follow the court’s decision.

“We just need time to prepare the revision of the law,” Dasco explained at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (August 26, 2025).

Earlier this year, President Prabowo Subianto had announced his plan to abolish outsourcing work schemes, speaking in front of thousands of workers on May Day.

“I will also ask the National Workers’ Welfare Council to find a way—hopefully soon, as soon as possible—for us to eliminate outsourcing,” Prabowo declared during his speech at May Day 2025 at Monas, Jakarta.

President Prabowo explained that when low-income workers earn a sufficient income, national purchasing power will increase.

“My economic theory is very simple: if low-income people receive decent income, their purchasing power will grow,” he said.

The President also mentioned that the government has allocated over Rp 500 trillion for social protection programs—ranging from expanded free BPJS Health coverage, free education for workers’ children, to electricity subsidies and direct cash assistance.

“We are fighting to ensure no citizen suffers. All these policies aim to protect workers’ purchasing power and dignity,” he stated.

Regarding the Asset Seizure Bill (RUU Perampasan Aset), many have expressed support for President Prabowo Subianto’s anti-corruption agenda through the bill’s passage.

Almuzzammil Yusuf, President of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), declared his party’s support for President Prabowo’s efforts to combat corruption while also protecting workers.

“PKS strongly encourages the immediate passage of the Asset Seizure Bill to protect public funds and national assets,” he said.

Workers and labor groups are urged to remain vigilant against provocations from politically motivated groups attempting to exploit labor issues for their own interests. Opportunists often stir unrest by manipulating dissatisfaction, overshadowing the government’s tangible achievements.

Numerous strategic initiatives continue to be launched to ensure the protection of all Indonesian workers.

These pro-labor policies serve as clear proof of the government’s seriousness in listening to the voices of working people—allowing national energy to be focused on productivity and shared development.
