Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Marsudi Suhud and University of Indonesia (UI) academic and political communications expert Aditya Perdana agreed that aspirations must be expressed in a dignified manner. This was conveyed in a special dialogue session on National TV on September 2, 2025.

MUI Deputy Chairman Marsudi Suhud emphasized that conveying aspirations must be done in an elegant and dignified manner, maintaining order for a healthy democracy so that aspirations are conveyed.

“Religion commands to convey the truth, with patience and obedience. We obey religious beliefs, obey positive law,” he said.

Marsudi further emphasized that people must be patient and not do things that are prohibited. If causing damage is prohibited, it must be stopped.

“Convey your aspirations and prioritize deliberation. When conveying your aspirations, ensure that no one loses their lives. Protect public and government assets and public facilities,” he explained.

Marsudi Syuhud stated that the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) are responding to public aspirations with a constructive approach. The President stated that aspirations expressed in the public sphere will be seriously followed up through DPR mechanisms. This statement reflects the government’s commitment to opening up space for constructive criticism, while ensuring that the people’s aspirations are not only heard but also followed up with concrete actions.

Marsudi Syuhud further added that “every individual is obliged to maintain life safety, personal honor and respect for other parties,” he said.

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and religious leaders from across the country greatly appreciated the president’s swift response to the political situation. Sixteen organizations were brought together. Indonesia possesses a wealth of religious figures and organizations that can provide a balance, unlike any other country.

Meanwhile, Political Communication Expert from the University of Indonesia (UI), Aditya Perdana, emphasized that expressing opinions and aspirations is a right of every citizen guaranteed by the constitution.

“We have agreed that in a democratic country, expressing protests and opinions is a right guaranteed by law,” he said.

In expressing opinions, people have different ways, some are polite, some create an abnormal situation, so that they are paid attention to.

When expressing aspirations in destructive and anarchic ways, it certainly has undesirable consequences, causing damage to public facilities and ultimately making things difficult for the community.

“It is important to emphasize that this freedom must be channeled in an orderly, non-anarchic manner, and must not violate the law or disrupt public order,” he said.

“Destructive actions have the potential to harm the wider community, cause material losses and loss of life, and ultimately weaken national unity, which should be maintained,” he explained.

We appreciate the President’s swift response, as this situation must be handled seriously to prevent further escalation.
