Rocky Gerung’s statement is uncivilized, must be processed by law

Many people consider that the expression put forward by Rocky Gerung is utterly baseless and also shows how his personal qualities reflect that he is completely uncivilized and far from the noble values espoused by the Indonesian nation.

After some time ago it had shocked the public and went viral on many social media for how he said it, this also made not a few parties comment on the alleged insult to the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

This response has now been issued by the Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Berkarya Party, Fauzan Rachmansyah. According to him, the words and actions taken by Rocky Gerung in the public sphere regarding the Head of State were very bad things and not at all good for the community.

He very firmly considered that the words uttered by political observers were not a criticism at all, but instead reflected an uncivilized public communication and a sentence which was highly unlawful because it contradicted the state constitution.

It was not half-hearted, even the politician from the Berkarya Party revealed that Rocky Gerung’s words could already enter the criminal realm. Apart from what the philosopher said was not classified as a criticism, but also his words did not have any basic reference whatsoever. So if it has been concretely proven that there are elements of violating the law there, the security forces should be able to immediately process it into the criminal realm.

What’s more, indeed as someone who claims to be an academic, the 64-year-old man should be able to understand and be wiser in choosing and sorting out the words he wants to say. Because so far it is very well known how the track record of the former University of Indonesia (UI) lecturer often utters various inappropriate words in public spaces and in digital spaces.

Not only that, but with his skill in playing with words, Rocky Gerung is also often seen deliberately using words that can cause multiple interpretations or even misinterpretations in society, especially for volunteers supporting President Jokowi.

In fact, as an educated person, political observers should understand how to cast good and constructive or productive criticism. In addition, so far the Head of State himself is not the type of person who is anti-criticism, even during the big 212 demonstrations some time ago, the President was immediately present and listened to the aspirations of the people. So that with such an attitude from the figure of the Head of State, he should also be able to respond well, namely giving constructive criticism.

In the same vein, regarding how to behave and speak politely with reference to the Rocky Gerung incident, all members of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) or what is commonly referred to as Nahdliyin are advised not to imitate the expression of the philosopher, which gives criticism without any no manners at all.

Regarding this appeal, the general chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Board (Ketum PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf or who is usually known as Gus Yahya, very firmly considered that the 64-year-old man had acted very impolitely towards the Head of State.

The impolite statement that was meant and became very much highlighted, has come out of Rocky Gerung’s mouth is the phrase ‘Bastard and Stupid’. So, furthermore, Gus Yahya then also gave an appeal to political actors in the country not to take similar actions as that of the philosopher.

How could it not be, the article is very clear that the expression put forward by political observers is very far from the eastern adab that has been adhered to and highly upheld by the Indonesian nation. So that with this event of course as a nation that is very obedient to noble values, it absolutely cannot tolerate anymore.

Meanwhile, the President of Laskar Sholawat Nusantara (LSN), M. Fawait also deeply regretted how the statement that had come out of the academician’s mouth to the figure of the Head of State was still valid to lead and protected by the country’s constitution.

He also asked political observers to be more careful in distinguishing between what could be categorized as criticism and which words actually belonged to insulting and cursing. Don’t let any other party in his speech utter a lot of sentences and actions that have no concrete basis at all, but instead show uncivility like Rocky Gerung’s statement towards President Jokowi.
