JAKARTA – The government officially launched the School Free Health Check Program (CKG Sekolah) simultaneously on Monday, August 4, 2025. A total of 12 schools across various regions served as the initial locations for this program, which forms part of a broader transformation of Indonesia’s national health system toward promotive and preventive care.

Adita Irawati, Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), emphasized that CKG Sekolah reflects the government’s firm commitment to developing high-quality human capital.

“CKG Sekolah is a long-term investment in the health sector for children and adolescents,” Adita stated.

The program targets 53.8 million students across all levels of education, including elementary (SD), junior high (SMP), senior high (SMA), madrasahs, and Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools). It is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Quick Best Outcomes Program in the health sector, aiming to reach Indonesia’s entire population of 281 million people.

Previously, CKG Sekolah was piloted in Sekolah Rakyat beginning July 14, 2025. With this nationwide launch, the program is now being extended to formal schools under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Hasan Nasbi, Head of the Presidential Communications Office, explained that the goal of CKG Sekolah is to encourage a shift in public mindset about health maintenance.

“Even when in good health, people are encouraged to visit healthcare facilities for free check-ups—to prevent more serious issues before it’s too late,” Hasan emphasized.

He added that the proactive outreach approach in schools is a key strategy for early disease detection.

“We hope to identify potential health issues in children as early as possible—before they develop into more severe conditions in the future,” Hasan added.

By reaching students directly in their school environments, the CKG Sekolah Program paves the way for a healthier generation, better prepared to face the future.
