Papua – Very high appreciation should be given to the ranks of the security forces who moved swiftly to prevent potential casualties from the shooting incident at the KST Papua which was carried out on a Smart Air aircraft.
Again, continuing to carry out a series of actions or actions that are very contrary to human values and even contrary to state law, the Papuan Separatist and Terrorist Group (KST) has not stopped spreading terror and crimes to the community so that it is very disturbing to many parties.
Recently, the separatist group in Bumi Cenderawasih carried out an attack by firing bullets at the Smart Air plane. Even the shells fired by them were known to penetrate the fuselage. In addition, it is also known that the Smart Air plane that was strafed by the bullets was apparently carrying as many as 7 (seven) security personnel from the Damai Carstensz Mobile Brigade (Brimob).
As a result of the KST Papua series of actions which were very troubling, Smart Air aircraft were forced to temporarily cancel flights they were actually planning to do, especially flights in Nabire Regency, Papua.
From the incidents and events that occurred, it even caused as many as 4 (four) bullets to lodge in the body and also the wings of the Smart Air aircraft. Luckily, even though the terrorist group from Bumi Cenderawasih conducted a shootout with 7 (seven) security personnel from members of the Mobile Brigade Damai Carstensz who managed to get down immediately at the destination crime scene (TKP), so this was able to minimize other adverse impacts.
It is also undeniable that the hard work of the entire state security apparatus in suppressing the Papuan KST deserves to receive a very high appreciation, so that with their swift action they were able to immediately suppress the actions carried out by the separatist group, so that there were no casualties from the incident.
Furthermore, even though there had been obstacles to flights from the Smart Air aircraft, it turned out that the plane piloted by the Pilot named M. fahran and the Co-Pilot named Wahyu managed to continue their journey to the Nabire area.
With the shooting action carried out by KST Papua at the fuselage of the Smart Air plane causing disruption to flight schedules, which occurred on Tuesday 18 July 2023, then immediately responded with very fast steps from the ranks of the other joint personnel security apparatus, namely the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) who immediately stood on standby to guard the border area, especially where the shootout occurred.
As a result, as a form of caution being exercised by all levels of the security apparatus and to really ensure that the situation is conducive again and security and peace among the community members can re-occur, security from all personnel was immediately carried out in the Nduga Regency area and also Intan Jaya Papua was immediately tightened again by deploying several additional members of the security forces.
On another occasion, it has indeed become concrete evidence of how the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) in the era of President Ri’s leadership, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is very strongly committed to being able to reconcile all regions in the Land of Papua. In fact, the issue of hostage-taking of pilots of the Susi Air airline also continues and is still being pursued very optimally and as much as possible.
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia together with all levels of the security apparatus do not want to use a military approach at all because they are guarding against the potential for an increase in casualties, even at the expense of civilians who have no fault whatsoever.
Therefore, the mission to evacuate, rescue and release Captain Pilot named Philips Mark Mehrtens was carried out in a peaceful way, namely by opening a very wide space for negotiation, including communication space so that the separatist group led by Egianus Kogoya was willing to release their hostages, but also continued to be guided by the existing constitution, namely by very firmly rejecting their request to liberate the Land of Papua.
Regarding this, the Presidential Chief of Staff (KSP), Moeldoko said that the Government of Indonesia would never be careless in taking actions or decisions, especially those related to the release of the New Zealand pilot.
So far, KST Papua is indeed a very savage separatist group, because they have not even stopped continuing to carry out a series of actions that threaten lives and endanger many parties. Most recently, they shot at the Smart Air plane so that it disrupted flights. But luckily, with the fast and swift action taken by the ranks of the security forces, they managed to suppress their actions and were able to prevent casualties.
