Solo – Good news has emerged from the national textile industry. PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), a textile giant that has long served as a lifeline for thousands of workers in Central Java, is set to resume operations under new ownership. This development was confirmed by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, who assured that the takeover process is nearing completion and the factory will soon be operational again.

“Yes, it’s all clear. The takeover and operations will begin shortly. Ten thousand former Sritex employees and those from its subsidiaries will regain decent employment. All former employees will be accommodated in this process,” Luthfi stated optimistically.

The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) in Solo also welcomed the news. Deputy Secretary of Apindo Solo, Sri Saptono Basuki, expressed hope that the process would be realized soon.

“Our hope is that the process outlined by the court-appointed curator in Jakarta goes as planned. If operations can resume by May or June, that would be excellent for the workers,” he said.

According to Basuki, accelerating the revival of Sritex is crucial to prevent the company’s assets from remaining idle for too long. At the same time, it presents a real solution to reduce unemployment in Solo and the surrounding areas.

“If operations resume soon, workers won’t be unemployed for long. That also puts Apindo at ease because it helps restore a conducive industrial climate,” he added.

He further emphasized that employment opportunities would boost the public’s purchasing power. Basuki urged the Sukoharjo Regency Government to actively support Sritex’s recovery process.

“If they don’t have jobs, it’ll be tough for them. This is a very positive sign for regional economic recovery. The local government must also support this initiative. They too will benefit from the revitalized local economy,” he asserted.

With this bold step, the revival of Sritex is not only a positive signal for the national industry, but also a new source of hope for thousands of working families. This new era of Sritex under fresh investment is expected to mark a significant milestone in the resurgence of Indonesia’s textile sector.
