Jakarta – Ahead of the Idulfitri celebrations in 2026, the government has assured that the supply of essential goods and fuel remains safe and under control. The public is also encouraged to shop wisely and avoid hoarding so that the distribution of staple foods and fuel can continue smoothly and the needs of all communities can be met during the Eid period.

Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, urged the public not to make excessive purchases or engage in panic buying of basic necessities such as fuel and rice amid circulating issues about rising prices ahead of Idulfitri 1447 Hijriah.

“So the public does not need to panic buy, because that would actually disrupt the food supply chain. The government already has schemes in place to address issues related to prices and the supply of essential commodities,” said Tito.

To maintain price stability and supply ahead of Eid, the Minister of Home Affairs has also instructed all regional leaders to actively coordinate with distributors and market business actors in their respective areas.

“Regional leaders should immediately hold meetings and coordinate with distributors and businesses regarding food supply readiness. This anticipatory step is important to maintain the smooth flow of the supply chain so that distribution disruptions that could harm consumers do not occur,” Tito emphasized.

The government noted that the national rice stock is currently sufficient until next year, while fuel supplies are also available in adequate quantities to meet public consumption needs during the Ramadan to Eid period.

In line with this, Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, also emphasized that Indonesia’s rice stock is currently abundant. In fact, it is sufficient to meet the public’s needs for almost the next year.

“Based on the current data, our food availability is very secure. The total national rice stock is sufficient for the next 324 days, or around 10.8 months, so the public does not need to worry,” said Minister Amran.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to continue maintaining the stability of supply and distribution of essential goods and fuel ahead of the Idulfitri celebrations. Through cross-ministerial coordination, regular stock monitoring, and strengthening distribution systems in various regions, the government is working to ensure that the availability of staple goods and fuel remains secure at stable prices so that the public’s needs during the Ramadan to Eid period can be properly fulfilled.
