Subsidized Housing Rolled Out in Several Provinces, Government Affirms Legal Certainty
Jakarta – Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto is personally overseeing the acceleration of the subsidized housing development program across various regions.
In addition, the government has confirmed its readiness to conduct the groundbreaking for the construction of 141,000 subsidized housing units, which will be spread across three adjacent areas.
“President Prabowo has also received a report regarding the completion of preparations for the groundbreaking of 141,000 subsidized housing units to be developed across three nearby locations,” Teddy said.
According to him, the development sites have been strategically designed, as they are located close to public facilities such as schools, hospitals, office complexes, factories, and main road access. This strategic positioning is expected to enhance residents’ mobility and improve overall living standards.
The government estimates that the project will absorb around 80,000 workers across various sectors and significantly stimulate regional economic activity.
“With this development, it is estimated that approximately 80,000 workers across multiple sectors will be employed, accelerating the circulation of the economic supply chain,” he explained.
Teddy emphasized that the President’s commitment to the program goes beyond planning, extending to ensuring effective and targeted execution. The government is striving to expand public access to decent housing through affordable subsidy schemes and regulatory reforms.
“President Prabowo, through the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas, intends for as many Indonesians as possible to own decent and affordable homes across all segments of society,” he added.
He further noted that the government is simplifying bureaucratic procedures to support faster implementation.
“One of the measures includes the provision of decent subsidized housing along with the streamlining of various licensing processes and the reduction of permit and administrative costs,” Teddy concluded.
Meanwhile, the construction of 141,000 subsidized housing units in the Meikarta area has also received serious attention from the central government. Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait has provided assurances regarding security, licensing, and legal certainty for the continuation of the project.
The subsidized housing program forms part of the national strategy to reduce Indonesia’s still-high housing backlog. By providing affordable housing with accessible financing schemes, low-income communities are expected to gain broader opportunities to own livable homes.
The government has also stressed the importance of construction quality and the provision of essential facilities such as clean water, sanitation, and electricity. Strict oversight from various institutions is being carried out to ensure that development proceeds according to standards and remains free from irregularities.
