Aceh Tamiang – The central government’s assistance to flood-affected communities in Aceh Tamiang Regency is a clear demonstration of the state’s presence in protecting and serving its citizens. The various aid distributed is considered highly meaningful to the community, not only easing their burden but also fostering optimism and a spirit of post-disaster recovery.

Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian said the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Central PKK Mobilization Team, and a number of national garment companies provided humanitarian aid to affected communities.

“The aid amounted to 62,169 packages consisting of blankets, shirts, sarongs, prayer robes, sanitary napkins, rice, and various foods,” he said during a working visit to Aceh Tamiang.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that this assistance was a rapid response from the government to ensure that the community’s basic needs were met.

“Therefore, the government is present to ensure that these needs are met,” said Tito Karnavian.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that this assistance is not temporary. It follows up on the Minister’s proposal to President Prabowo during the Plenary Cabinet Session on December 15, 2025. President Prabowo approved the government’s steps to facilitate garment companies’ swift and targeted distribution of aid.

“This isn’t a one-time aid measure. The government will continue to distribute aid according to the community’s needs,” he added.

In addition to logistical assistance, the government is also strengthening clean water supply through support from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Two mobile drinking water (Arsinum) technology units have been deployed to help communities access clean and safe drinking water.

Wahyu Hidayat, a Senior Researcher at BRIN and Arsinum innovator, explained that Arsinum Mobile is capable of producing up to 30 thousand liters of clean water per day with quality that meets health standards.

“The processed water meets the Ministry of Health’s standards and is safe for public consumption,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Acting Regional Secretary of Aceh Tamiang Regency, Syuibun Anwar, expressed his appreciation for the support from the central government and BRIN.

“On behalf of the local government and the people of Aceh Tamiang, we express our gratitude. This assistance is very beneficial and truly alleviates the community’s basic needs,” said Syuibun.

The strong synergy between the central government, regional governments, the business world, and research institutions demonstrates the country’s commitment to handling disasters quickly, measurably, and sustainably.

The assistance provided is not only a short-term solution, but also a symbol of the state’s concern and commitment to the welfare of the Aceh Tamiang community. *
