By: Fajar Dwi Santoso
The transition of leadership from President Joko Widodo to the Government of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka marks the continuation of a development vision that focuses on inclusivity and sustainability.
The new government is ready to carry out four priority programs which are seen as capable of improving community welfare evenly and sustainably, starting from the health sector, education and food security. By referring to the blueprint initiated by President Jokowi, it is hoped that these programs can take Indonesia in a more advanced and stable direction.
President Jokowi has consistently said that the 2025 APBN will be designed to maintain the stability and sustainability of various programs that are already running. The APBN architecture is considered an important foundation in realizing equal distribution of prosperity and inclusive economic growth.
The Head of State emphasized that the 2025 RAPBN does not only focus on fiscal stability, but also ensures that various programs initiated by his government will be continued by President-elect Prabowo Subianto. This includes efforts to encourage development from the regions to the center, in order to create true equality.
On October 20 2024, the baton of leadership will officially pass from President Jokowi to the Prabowo-Gibran government. The transition process is not only seen as an administrative step, but also as a symbol of the continuation of the hopes and ideals of Indonesian society. This sustainable vision is the basis for the new government in designing programs that suit real needs in the field.
One of the priority programs that was immediately launched by the Prabowo-Gibran government was Free Nutritious Meals (MBG). Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani reported that the program will target pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers and students at all levels of education.
With a budget of IDR 71 trillion in the first year of implementation, the program will be managed by the National Nutrition Agency, which was recently formed by President Jokowi through Presidential Regulation Number 83 of 2024.
The main aim of the program is not only to improve the nutritional quality of the younger generation, but also to empower the local MSME sector in providing food. Thus, apart from improving public health welfare, MBG is also expected to be able to significantly stimulate the local economy.
Apart from MBG, free health checks are the second priority of the Prabowo-Gibran government. This program will target 52.2 million Indonesian citizens and includes checking blood pressure, blood sugar, and x-rays to detect catastrophic diseases.
The Ministry of Health will lead the implementation of the program, which will also include the construction of type D hospitals in the regions to be converted into type C with more complete and modern facilities.
This transformation of health infrastructure is an integral part of Prabowo-Gibran’s vision of building a more inclusive and equitable health system throughout Indonesia.
The third program that is focused on is school renovation. With a budget allocation of IDR 20.3 trillion, the Prabowo-Gibran government is committed to repairing inadequate classrooms, equipping furniture, and building toilet facilities in schools that need them.
Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani stated that the renovation program would be executed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the Ministry of Religion.
The program aims to create a more appropriate and conducive educational environment, so that students can learn more comfortably and safely. Apart from that, the construction of superior schools in several strategic locations is also one of the steps to ensure access to quality education for all Indonesian people.
Food security is the fourth main focus. The president elected in the 2024 election plans to build food barns in regions and villages. This program is expected to be able to increase agricultural productivity and maintain stable food supplies.
The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of PUPR will collaborate to ensure that food storage infrastructure development runs effectively. Strengthening food security is in line with the government’s vision to make Indonesia a more independent country in meeting domestic food needs, so as to reduce dependence on imports.
The Director of State Revenue and Expenditure Budget Preparation, Rofyanto Kurniawan, assesses that the focus of central government spending, including in the fields of education, health and food security, will be a top priority in the Prabowo-Gibran leadership era.
According to him, efficient and well-targeted budget allocation is the key to creating inclusive economic growth. In this context, Rofyanto added that the four priority programs not only aim to improve infrastructure and basic services, but also encourage broader economic transformation.
Through these four priority programs, the Prabowo-Gibran government shows its commitment to continuing the achievements of the Jokowi government with a focus on sustainability and inclusiveness.
From improving child nutrition to food security, the new government is working to ensure that all communities, from regional to central, can experience the benefits of more equitable development. These programs are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s economic and social foundations, leading the country towards a brighter, more stable and sustainable future.
