Synergy Between Academics and Officials Strengthens Oversight of Papua’s National Strategic Projects (PSN) to Ensure On-Target Development
Papua – The implementation of National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Papua continues to be strengthened through increasingly solid cross-sector collaboration. The Papua Provincial Government encourages the active involvement of universities as strategic partners to ensure each program is effective, targeted, and has a direct impact on the community.
Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Christian Sohilait, emphasized that the contribution of academic thought is a crucial element in improving the quality of development planning. A scientific perspective is considered capable of providing a strong foundation for formulating policies that are adaptive to local conditions.
“Support from academics provides a comprehensive perspective so that the programs implemented are more targeted and effective,” said Christian Sohilait.
This collaboration not only focuses on planning aspects but also includes evaluation and monitoring of program implementation in the field. With a research-based approach, potential technical obstacles can be anticipated early, thus optimizing the implementation of PSN.
Amidst the challenges of fiscal constraints, synergy with the education sector is seen as a strategic solution. Utilizing intellectual resources is considered capable of strengthening policy quality without relying solely on substantial budget support.
Efforts to strengthen the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Papua have also received serious attention from law enforcement officials. The Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, ST Burhanuddin, specifically instructed the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) to oversee 38 strategic projects in Papua, totaling Rp3.7 trillion.
“Oversight will be carried out comprehensively, from planning to budget utilization, with an emphasis on early detection of potential disruptions,” ST Burhanuddin emphasized.
This comprehensive oversight approach is crucial to ensuring transparency and accountability at every stage of the project. The AGO plays a role not only as a law enforcer but also as a strategic partner in maintaining the quality of development.
In addition to overseeing the National Strategic Projects (PSN), the AGO also contributes to supporting other priority programs in Papua. Assistance with the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, strengthening food security through the Independent Food Attorney (AGO), and oversight of the Red and White Village Cooperative are all part of efforts to expand the impact of development.
“This commitment is part of the effort to bring about development with integrity and sustainability in Papua,” added ST Burhanuddin.
Strengthening integrity is also a key focus in carrying out duties. Emphasizing the importance of professionalism and prohibiting behavior that could potentially undermine public trust are part of efforts to maintain the institution’s credibility.
With synergy between local governments, academics, and law enforcement officials, the implementation of the National Strategic Project (PSN) in Papua is expected to be more focused and have a real impact. This collaborative approach is a crucial foundation for promoting inclusive, transparent, and sustainable development in Papua.
