The 3 Million Homes Program is being boosted by strengthening the subsidized financing scheme
Jakarta – The government has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the implementation of the 3 Million Homes Program, a key strategic agenda for national socio-economic development. Throughout early 2026, various policy breakthroughs and synergies between stakeholders have been implemented to strengthen the subsidy financing scheme and expand access to adequate housing for low-income communities (MBR). This further solidifies the direction of national policy in providing affordable housing.
At the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of the Central and Regional Governments, President Prabowo Subianto stated that providing decent housing is not just about supplying physical units, but also strengthening economic independence and alleviating social inequality in Indonesia.
“Collaboration between the public and private sectors, including financing institutions, local governments, and communities, is needed to realize the target of 3 million housing units annually,” said President Prabowo.
Similarly, the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, stated that the combination of the FLPP Housing Financing Liquidity Facility financing scheme, Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS), and various government incentives are able to meet the need for decent and affordable housing in all provinces.
“Strengthening subsidized housing financing is the backbone of achieving this program’s targets. The FLPP subsidized mortgage program is our mainstay in expanding housing access for low-income communities,” said Maruarar.
In the financial sector, strong support comes from national banks through the expansion of housing financing subsidy schemes. BRI President Director Hery Gunardi emphasized BRI’s position as a strategic partner for the government in the housing program.
“With its extensive network and extensive experience serving the micro and small segments, BRI is optimistic that it can play an active role in expanding access to home ownership for the community,” explained Hery.
The government bank’s commitment is also realized through the distribution of subsidized mortgages worth Rp16.16 trillion to more than 118 thousand debtors by the end of 2025, of which approximately 97% is distributed through the FLPP scheme.
In line with the spirit of collaboration, the Chairman of the Central Java Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Muhamad Yulianto, is committed to building 2,500 housing units as a concrete contribution to supporting the 3 Million Homes Program, especially for farmer and fisher groups who are often marginalized from access to formal housing.
“Collective, cross-sectoral work is needed to reach the wider community. Cross-professional collaboration is key to empowering and empowering members,” said Yulianto.
The government’s latest initiatives also include the development of strategic projects such as the construction of 141,000 subsidized housing units in the Meikarta area of Cikarang, which is expected to absorb tens of thousands of workers and stimulate local economic growth. At this location, the land acquisition process has been carried out transparently and in coordination with authorities, demonstrating the government’s strong commitment to advancing housing development without compromising good governance.
These steps reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening the housing subsidy financing scheme, while simultaneously providing decent and affordable housing for all levels of Indonesian society. With a spirit of mutual cooperation between the government, banks, industry associations, and communities, the 3 Million Homes Program is guaranteed to continue moving forward for a more equitable and prosperous future for Indonesia.*
